1. The OEM cartridge is shipped with a cover

that protects the developer roller from
damage. Remove this cover (Fig.1).

2. Remove one screw that secures the side

plate to the cartridge with a # 2 bit Phillips
screwdriver (Fig. 2).

3. Once the screw is removed, remove the

endplate (Fig. 3).

4. Remove the four screws that secure the

gear side end plate with a # 2 bit Phillips
screwdriver (Fig. 4).

5. Remove the end cap (Fig. 5). NOTE: Do

not remove gears.

6. Using a small flat head screwdriver remove

the developer roller locking tab (Fig. 6).

7. Remove the developer roller and clean with

compressed air, then set aside for
reassembly (Fig. 7).

8. Remove only the gears shown in Fig. 8,

clean with compressed air. Then clean the
copper contact on the drive gear with
alcohol (Fig. 8).

9. The remaining gears are connected to the

toner agitator and sponge charge roller.
They are easily lost and difficult to
re-attach if removed, clean them in place
(Fig. 9).

10. Using a # 2 bit phillips screwdriver

remove the five screws that hold the
doctor blade assembly in place (Fig. 10).

11. CAUTION: The doctor blade assembly

comes off the hopper as a whole unit (top
and bottom) and is attached by the
developer roller sealing foams (Fig. 11).
Use caution not to damage the foams
when removing. If so replace with new
ones.

12. Using compressed air clean the assembly

and repair or replace sealing foams on the
back of the assembly if necessary (Fig.
12).

13. Use compressed air or vacuum to clean
the toner from the toner hopper. Clean
the foam charge roller thoroughly. The
charge roller charges and delivers the
toner to the developer roller. It is critical
to remove all the old toner from this
roller during assembly. If this roller is not
cleaned thoroughly backgrounding and
print defects may occur (Fig.13).

14. Clean the cartridge of all residual toner.

Clean all contacts with alcohol and
reassemble in reverse order (Fig.14).
