THE USE OF MOBILE APPS FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING

Good morning teacher and classmates in this


opportunity I’m going to talk about use of mobile
apps for English learning.
Recently many studies have shown that mobile
learning can provide a lot of possibilities for English
learners to practice language skills on different
smart devices like smartphones, IPads or tablets.
Nowadays, mobile technologies and mobile apps
are becoming an indispensable part for English
learning. This methodology of their use is called
mobile learning (m-learning). Using mobile apps in
English learning has positive effect on students.
There was a study that investigated how mobile
apps can be integrated for English learning and the
results of this study indicated that mobile learning
can be adopted in English lessons and students’
self-study. Also the results indicated that the mobile
apps use sources related to English lessons, as well
as, they offer an extra support to students to
practice English language (in and after class). It’s
important to say that participating students
expressed positive attitude towards mobile apps for
learning.
Also these results indicated that mobile learning is
becoming a salient feature of education as it is a
great opportunity and step forward, and it should
be supported especially thanks to the benefits it
brings for language learning.
THE CONCEPT OF M-LEARNING.
In Mobile Learning, The very term “mobile” stands
for the “mobility” or the ability to move freely and
easily from one place to another. Mobile learning
refers to the implementation of mobile devices in
any branch of study. The features of mobile
technology such as the portability and information
access plays a major role in the enhancement of
English language learning.
Generally, mobile learning can be defined as
mobility of the personal, portable and wireless
devices such as the Smartphone, personal digital
assistant (PDA), iPod, palmtop, laptops used in
language learning.
