Dear Parent/Guardian,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to inform you about the RSE programme that your son/daughter
will begin engaging with upon return to school on February 28th.

As part of Junior Cycle SPHE, all students are timetabled for 6 weeks of RSE (Relationships and Sexuality
Education). This takes place in year 1, 2 and 3 and is a mandatory component of the subject.

Second years will cover topics such as

 Gender identity and sexual orientation

 forming relationships
 managing relationships
 healthy relationships
 conception to birth

You can support your child with their learning by having conversations about the above topics and asking them
about their learning in SPHE. There is some guidance for parents in the area of RSE available here RSE in
Schools | B4UDecide – Relationships and sex education for Irish teenagers

If you have concerns about your son/daughter engaging with the RSE programme, please email
saragorman@kwetb.ie, rebeccajones@kwetb.ie or selinaconway@kwetb.ie directly to discuss this issue.

Yours sincerely,

Sara Gorman Rebecca Jones Selina Conway
