Teaching strategies:
1. Recap previous lesson by asking pupils to name words
with phonemes /s/ and /æ/.
2. Review the /s/ and /æ/ sounds and actions.
Attendance: 3. Next, review the pictures with phonemes /s/ and
/æ/. Pupils repeat after the teacher.

a. say the phonemes /s/ and /æ/ correctly.
b. listen to, respond to and talk about the things in
the picture with correct pronunciation at phrase
and sentence level.
c. listen and identify words and pictures with
phonemes /s/ and /æ/.
Teaching Aids: textbook, picture cards, worksheet
Educational Emphasis: Multiple Intelligences,
collaborative.

Teaching strategies:
Attendance: 1. Introduce the phonemes /s/ and /æ/ by showing
corresponding actions. (refer to TB page 14)

4. Get pupils to do the action and say /s/.

1. Get the pupils to look at the picture. (TB page 13)
2. Introduce the things in the picture with
phonemes /s/ and / æ / by showing picture and
word cards.
3. Say the words and point to the letter ‘s’.
4. Get the pupils to say the words and the sound.
5. Repeat steps 2-4 with the phoneme / æ /.
6. Guide the pupils to talk about the things in the
picture.
7. Teacher reads the sentences, pupils listen and
repeat.
c. While listening-speaking:
1. Divide pupils into groups and give each group a set
of picture cards.
2. Say a word with phonemes /s/ or / æ / and the
groups quickly hold up the correct picture cards.
3. The group which holds up the correct picture the
fastest gets a point.
d. Post listening-speaking:
1. Pupils refer to their activity book.
2. Say the pictures with phonemes /s/ or / æ / in
each set.
3. Guide the pupils to tick the correct pictures and
repeat the sounds.
4. Discuss the answers with the pupils.
