GLS689 Digital Image Processing

Individual Assignment
There are several satellite systems in operation today that collect imagery that is
subsequently distributed to users. Each type of satellite data offers specific
characteristics that make it more or less appropriate for a particular application such
as urban growth, deforestation and crop monitoring, weather prediction, water quality,
climate change, land use mapping, land cover mapping and so on. For each
application it is necessary to develop a specific methodology to extract information
from the image data.

You are required to discuss one (1) satellite image (e.g. MODIS) and its application
(e.g. study global change). Your answer should describe the data information (format,
bands, wavelengths, resolution) and its application (methodology and data analysis)
of the selected satellite image.
