Why do foreign investors sell their assets in Thailand? Why did Megawati do the
privatization?

1. The definition of a bond is a letter of acknowledgment of debt issued by the issuer of

bonds to bondholders. or a certificate containing a contract between the investor and
the company, which states that the investor is a bondholder who has lent a certain
amount of money to the company.
As we know that the government issues bonds as a source of financing for the state
budget. Bonds have a function as a letter that can be traded to the public. Bonds also
serve as a way to obtain sufficient long-term financing.

2. In the new order it was a continuation of the progress of the old order and for the old
order in terms of achieving the economic sector, it could be said that there were more
mines than the excess, for example in the old order there was very high inflation due
to the circulation of more than one currency uncontrollably and the number of
unemployed. however in the new order there was an increase in adding export
commodities and succeeded in suppressing the inflation rate which previously
decreased to 650% to below double digits.

3. Because Thailand in 1997 was burdened by a large foreign debt and the fall in the
value of the Baht currency. This has resulted in foreign investors holding assets in
Thailand and throughout the Asian region to lose confidence in Asian markets and to
dispose of Asian currencies and assets as quickly as possible. This can be illustrated
when we face the COVID-19 pandemic where foreign and local investors "sell" their
assets so that their wealth does not just disappear, maybe this example is not the same
condition when there was a monetary crisis, but what investors did in times of
COVID-19 and in conditions of a monetary crisis are the same thing.

Megawati did privatization of BUMN because she wanted to maintain

macroeconomic stability that was owned by Indonesia after Indonesia ended its
cooperation with the IMF. As we know, the policies or options offered by the IMF are
always stifling Indonesia, so that Indonesia continues to depend on the IMF.
