Various factors are to be considered when discussing decisions for the community.

Not
only may it change your life but also the life of the people around you. All must be careful in
their choice by following well-founded standards of right and wrong that prescribe what humans
should do and weighing all plausible outcomes. In the case of the imaginary land of Wakanda,
wherein the familial feud is rooted so deeply within to the point of instigating a reign of terror,
the same must be done. To end the violence in the land, moving forward is necessary– and
abandoning the idea of harming one another is the first step. Thus, it is ideal for the peace
negotiator to improve the distressing situation. The Peace Negotiator's intervention may decide
Wakanda's lasting fate and future through measuring long-term effects.

However, the Peace Negotiator remains in a dilemma on whether peace is an investment

or a destination for Wakanda. With corruption being a relevant factor in the feud of the dominant
families, it is a tormenting choice to either tolerate some corruption for lasting peace or to
sacrifice peace right now to eliminate corruption in the long run.

In theory, the thought of long-term peace is ideal despite an initial struggle because that's
simply putting in hard work for a fruitful harvest. Bluntly, one may say that the longevity of
peace is just the absence of war. Yet, this method of peacebuilding is a strategy to foster self-
sustaining economic growth that could connect increased participation with sustainable peace
(Sambanis, 2007). And I believe peace would never be resolved by acts that disrupt whatever
resemblance of peace in the land. Progress is made by moving forward, which may mean leaving
past grudges behind. This concept fits under utilitarian ethics very well, promoting the greater
good for the most significant number of people since there are no further casualties.

Take, for example, the peace talks in Mindanao. The southern part of the Philippines has
known a long history of armed conflict. In the year 2000, former president Estrada even declared
an all-out war in an attempt to end the struggle, but it did not improve the country's fiscal health
(Batac & Bijnen, 2019). It shows how acts that forsake the citizen's well-being, even for a short
period of time, will never be a decision FOR the people. The Framework Agreement on the
Bangsamoro offered better progress for peace than the example. No matter how difficult it was to
take the fragile steps of settlement as partners in implementing provisions and risk of structural

1
reform in governance, it formed the hope for peace without human sacrifices (Conciliation
Resources, 2012).

Suppose the Peace Negotiator somehow arrives on the decision of sacrificing peace in the
meantime to settle corruption tendencies ultimately. In that case, it is possible to work, but it may
also fail. On the one hand, the reign of bad blood that stained Wakanda will be wiped, but on the
other, the Peace Negotiator risks the civilians. While corruption might be a necessary element of
securing peace (Haass & Ottmann, 2017), it is not ethical to compromise the safety of those on
the sidelines. Worse, the larger fire caused by the competing families openly brawling and even
possibly arming the people may become inextinguishable and completely forsake a peaceful
future.

The land of Wakanda's struggle for progress in the familial feuds compromises the
wellness of both the individuals and the community. Thus, a great deal of thinking must be
considered on the course or plan to take. As established, the Peace Negotiator's intervention may
decide Wakanda's lasting fate and future through measuring long-term effects. So, it is wise to
choose what would matter more significantly in the context carefully and consider from an
ethical perspective if it simultaneously benefits the majority and prominent families rather than
one at a time. In conclusion, it is better to end violence in Wakanda by promoting peace
immediately than permitting more violence, hoping that it would somehow lead to peace.
