ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS

Instruction

 Form a group of 6 - 8 persons (subject to change).


 Accomplish the assignment in accordance to the marking rubrics provided.
 Think of creative ways to get your assignment presented.
 This written assignment contributes 10.5 % of the total marks for the course.

Format of Assignment
The written assignment should be in the following format:

 Alignment: Justified
 Page number should be typed
 Maximum 10 pages (Cover page, content page, references and appendices, marking scheme
are NOT included in the page count)
 Include the content page.
 Include the standard cover page (download from WBLE).
 Make sure to list out all the group members’ name (according to alphabetical order) and ID
number correctly.
 Attach the marks allocation at the end of assignment.

Late Submission Penalty Clause


 The deadline for the submission of the group assignment is BY 8.4.2022 (Friday, Week
11).
 Late submission will be penalized. For each day of late submission, 5% will be deducted from
your total marks for each day it is late.
 Plagiarism, copying and cheating will NOT be awarded any mark, and disciplinary actions will
be taken instead.

Choose a product/service* that can be categorized as belonging to monopolistic competition


market structure. Answer the following questions.

1.1 Choose a company that provide the product / service to discuss.

1.2 Explain the chosen product/service.

2.1 Compare the price and other relevant information of the product / service with
its close substitutions within the same market (as much as possible). Present 10 marks
your findings in a table. Analyse the table.
2.2 State 3 reasons why the firm can sell at a higher price / same price / lower 10 marks
price compared to its competitors.

3.1 Explain by applying the characteristics to prove that the particular 30 marks
product/service falls under the monopolistic competition market structure.
(Note: Students are required to discuss the determinants with supporting
documents such as newspapers, journal, articles, etc.)
