The purpose of writing to you is to formally notify you that your position in the department as
a Lift Engineer is being closed temporarily due to COVID 19.
Your last working day will be 30th April 2020. Your salary and benefits will continue at 80% of
their current level during the furlough period. The length of the Furlough is unknown at the
minute, but we will review this on a monthly basis.
We will provide regular information as the current pandemic unfolds and if and when we
return to normal working routines.

We write to set out the revised conditions of employment you will need to agree to in the
coming weeks in order for us to qualify for the HMRC grant scheme known as the
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
As I am sure you are aware the government has agreed to fund up to 80% of employees’
wages up to a maximum of £2500.00 per month. It has become apparent that the way
forward will be for Trademark Lifts to pay your wages and then it will be up to us to apply for
the rebate at a later date.
To enable us to apply for the grant and pay your wages, you will need to be reclassified as
Furloughed worker which means you have been laid off through lack of work but you will be
retained and re-employed by us as and when the Government give the all clear to return to
work. This reclassification will not affect your statutory rights or pension benefits.
