LIFT MAINTENANCE BASIC MAINTENANCE TASKS
All jobsite work activity must be in full compliance with Otis World Wide Jobsite Safety Standards
(WWJSSS). When carrying out this procedure particular consideration should be given to control of the
elevator, LOTO, hoisting and rigging, ensuring public safety (signs and barriers), working in close proximity of
unguarded rotating equipment (sheaves) and the wearing of appropriate PPE (hand gloves, etc.). It is
required that the mechanic(s) carrying out the repair complete the appropriate JHA for the task at hand to
familiarize themselves with the work environment. If you are unsure of the WWJSSS standards in regard to
the work task at hand, immediately stop work and refer to your Supervisor.
No team members are to use the tools, materials, or methods described in this
document without reading, following, and understanding the document prior to the
commencement of the work or task.

B. MAINTENANCE TASKS
1. TRACTION BELTS INSPECTION
SCH-3300 uses V-shaped traction belts composed by 12 steel wires coated with a polyurethane layer. They
are called by Schindler STM (Suspension and Traction Media). According with manufacturer instructions,
belts must be visually examined at least each 12 months in order to be sure there are not damages on them.
Some examples of potential damages are:
Steel cord break. Replace Coating damaged. Steel wire break. Replace Coating damaged. Belt
always. Transversal breaks. whether there are more than punched by an object.
Replace whether there three broken wires in 20 mm. Replace always.
are more than five breaks
per meter.
According with the manufacturer instructions, belts have a lifespan of a certain number or runs or 15 years
from the manufacturing date. The number of runs for replacement depends on both the sheave diameter and
the suspension:
The number of runs at the moment of belts replacement must be written down in the maintenance book of the
lift. It can be checked in a runs counter placed in the cabinet or through the embedded service tool in menu 40
(configuration), CF11PA1 (trip counter). It is shown in runs x 100 (i.e: 1200 means 120.000 runs).
Once the number of runs has been checked, the process for going back to the main screen is as follows:
↑
- 000 - 000 ESC -000
40 0 40 4 01
The lifespan of the belts could be expanded if STM Monitoring device were available. If this is your
situation, please get in contact with EMEA Field Service department (EMEA.SupportNOE@otis.com).
The manufacturing date of the belt can be checked on the rear side of the belt:
For older models of belts, the manufacturing date is shown in a slightly different way:
Once load has been checked follow the process below for going back to the main screen:

5. Press the manual rescue button (DEM) and keep it pressed.
Voltage pulses are sent for opening the brake at three seconds
intervals. Car will move by unbalance.
6. Once the car reaches the floor level, the blue led LUET will light and car doesn’t LUET
5. After approx. 30 seconds, the car should fully close the doors and move upwards at a very reduced speed
(depending on the distance, it could take minutes to reach the nearest landing). When the nearest landing is
reached (led LUET is ON), doors fully open and lift stays out of service with doors opened.
6. Remove the shunt and switch the power on by connecting the main switch (JH). The lift will close the
doors and will perform a correction run.
6. TEST OF CAR SAFETY GEAR WITH EMPTY CAR AND SLOW SPEED
1. With car in idle, go into menu 20 of the embedded service tool:
Use the Up/Down arrows of the embedded “1” is shown in the bottom right corner of Switch to ERO. Safety chain
service tool until the submenu 75 (safety the screen. Car closes the doors (safety opens in the last checking
gear test) is shown and press Enter. chain closed) and passes to the phase 2. point (ISK).
Warning: If safety gear test or safety switches performance is not compliance, investigate
root cause and correct the issue before turning the car over to the customer.
Use the Up/Down arrows of the embedded When “1” is Car closes the doors (safety Once limit switch is activated and
service tool until the submenu 88 (KNE-U shown, press chain closed) and moves safety chain opens, test finishes. If
test) is shown and press Enter. Enter again. upwards at reduced speed. it is successful, “1” is shown.

3. Shut the power off, open the door with the triangular key and check the distance between the car door sill
and the landing door sill. A distance too short (lower than 35 mm) could cause callbacks.
4. Switch the power on and move the lift in Down direction in ERO mode until the car is below the top
landing level (it can be checked with LUET led). Then, put the lift back in Normal operation. After a
correction run, car should be in idle ready for attending calls.
Use the Up/Down arrows of the embedded service When “1” is shown, press Enter again. Car closes the doors and moves
tool until the submenu 15 (brake stopping distance at nominal speed until the bottom landing and remains with doors
upwards test) is shown and press Enter. closed. “2” at the bottom right corner means lift is ready for test.
3. Press Enter. 15 blinks and the car travels upwards at nominal speed. Two meters below KSE-U position
an emergency stop will be automatically performed. Open the top landing door and check the car is still
below the KSE-U position.
4. Exit the menu by pressing ESC several times until the main screen is shown. The lift will perform a
correction run.
4. After 20 seconds, if the car has not reached a landing, an emergency - 000
stop is performed and an error related to run time limit is stored in the
error log. The screen shows 37 1
5. Exit the test menu and reset the error by pressing the reset button on SCPU board.

Warning: Check LUET led immediately after plugging the TEST-MGB connector. If it turns off it
means brake is not able to hold the car on its position with one only shoe and car is moving up by
unbalance. If this is the situation, quickly remove the TEST-MGB connector and leave the lift out of
service.
