Black Mirror is a science fiction television series created by British


writer Charlie Brooker. It examines modern society, particularly with
regard to the unexpected consequences of new technologies. Episodes
are standalone, usually set in an alternative present or the near future,
often with a dark and satirical tone, though some are more
experimental and lighter.

It is a toxic society in which it is more important to have a good reputation than
being yourself.
Jobs: Are quite normal but the biggest difference between our life and their life is
that the works are extremely based on ratings.
Communications: Are mostly taking part by social media and interactions as well.
people with a low rating are normally ignored

2. Characterize Lacie (personality, appearance, aims, relationships)


Lacie is a smiley girl whose main aim is to get the highest rating possible. Her
relationships are only focused on having a better rating

3. Why does she want to achieve a better rating?


Because she wants to have a 20% discount on her new house´s rental.

4. What opportunity does she get?


She gets the opportunity to give a speech in the wedding of one of the most
influential people in the city, who was a childhood friend, in front of many
influential people.
5. When do things start to go wrong for her?
Things started to go wrong when she had a discussion with her brother

6. Describe Naomi. What does she represent?


Naomi is the prototype of the popular and perfect girl. She represents the society’s
goal.

7. Contrast Lacie with Truck Driver. Why is this character important?


The truck driver is very important in this episode because she makes the
protagonist start thinking in a different way. She told Lacie only in the numbers
and she told the protagonist her own story.

8. What does Lacie do in the end?


She appears in Naomi's wedding where she makes her speech and gets arrested.
When she arrived at the prison she started to cry.

9. Has she changed at the end of the episode?


Yes, we can see she started saying what she thinks and not what people want to
hear.

10. Do you think that popularity leads to corruption and fake relationships?

I think that somehow the claim is true and that's because people try to be who they
are not only to be more popular or to have friends that aren't really their friends.
On the other hand, I think that you can be popular without doing anything bad and
without being a fake friend.

11. In your opinion, is there a powerful message behind the episode regarding
Social Media?
Yes in my opinion the message that the episode wants to transmit is that you don't
care what the people think about you. You have to be by yourself.
