A hound it was, an enormous coal-black hound, but not
such a hound as mortal eyes have ever seen.
― Arthur Conan Doyle, The Hound of the Baskervilles
Description
This is a short scenario/monster to drop on a pack or coterie of vampires to try and get them off
balance. It is easy, quick and will completely fuck up an inexperienced group of players.

Baskerville Night a Vampire the Masquerade scenario

The monster in this scenario is a 100 year old ghouled dog whose master has long since died. Like
many human ghouls before it the Hound has now turned to vampire hunting to satiate the thirst
for vitae. The Hound will stalk the player characters, destroy their unlifes from the shadows,
separate them and then attack and kill physically weak members of the coaterie when they are
alone. The Hound is a big black german shepherd with no other distinguishing features.

The Hound will use auspex and it's natural abilities to identify kindred in the city and then choose
appropriate victims. First the weakest vampires in the domain who will be found dead or simply
disappear and then the player characters.

The Hounds tactics are centered around stalking and separating targets. It will only attack
vampires who are alone and will only fight groups if it has no way to flee. It will always try to get
the advantage before attacking.

The Hound can also try to break into a poorly protected haven during the day. If a character
doesn’t have a haven rating the dog will find a way in during high noon and then try to murder
the player character using teeth, potence and the sun.

The Hound is petty and evil. It enjoys harassing vampires by destroying car tires, hurting or
terrifying ghouls and cherished mortals, defecating on the vampires property or drawing unwanted
attention to the vampires haven. These minor acts of aggression will become more frequent until it
finds the opportunity to go in for the kill!

The Hound can also attack crime influence held by the coterie by chasing away or biting drug
dealers, prostitutes and other criminals in need of street access.

The dog will also try to frame other vampires for it's murders by stealing objects from kindred
that it leaves on the scene of the crime. It is however not very smart and clues to that it is a dog
that have carried the object can be found with a Perception + Animal Ken roll difficulty 6. It can
also be done with an Perception + Investigation roll with the higher difficulty of 8.

The dog has a basic understanding of the masquerade from it's old master and will use this to
punish characters who angers it. It will attack them in public, with the intent to rip out the
vampires throat and then run away, causing the vampire to breach the masquerade by not dying.

If the Hound ever loses more than 4 health levels, it will attempt to flee until the sun is up and
then retaliate during the day. Alternatively it will flee the city forever.
Dealing with the Hound can be as simple as shooting it. A kindred can also bribe the Hound
with 20 bloodpoints. This will probably require somebody using animalism to communicate with
the dog. The dog knows no fear and cannot be intimidated.

If the player characters are unable to handle the Hound a more experienced vampire will
easily take care of the problem. By just shooting the dog with a gun. The coterie will then face
massive prestige loss and ridicule from the rest of the cities kindred.

If the players handle the problem it will not bring them prestige, it is after all just a dog.
