COVID-19 RELIEF FUND EXTENSION FOR TAR UC MALAYSIAN STUDENTS

The TARC Education Foundation’s Board of Trustees has decided to extend the Covid-19 Relief Fund
(announced in November 2020). The new scheme known as “Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension” shall
start from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022 (“Extended Period”) to further assist TAR
UC Malaysian students in the payment of fees in TAR UC.

The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension will provide a one-time funding of fee payment up to a maximum
of RM500.00 per person during the Extended Period. For more details, please refer to the attached
Terms & Conditions and FAQs.

The pandemic caused by the Covid-19 is unprecedented. To help students to overcome their
difficulties and challenges during the pandemic, the TAR UC Management has embarked on various
initiatives and measures amongst others are:-

● Flexible instalment plan for fees payment;


● Topping up of RM20.0 million to TAR UC Student Loan Fund;
● Up to RM20.0 million fund allocation as Covid-19 Relief Fund to assist every student (RM500.00
per person as announced in November 2020) in paying fees;
● Channeling of savings made in the provision of Facilities and Resource (F&R) to TAR UC
Student Loan Fund (RM1.125 millions) and Student Welfare Fund (RM375,000.00);
● Food bank, monetary assistance and Meals/Food distribution to needy students;
● Logistic arrangement for students returning to homes, etc.

The University College will continue to monitor the situation; provide care and support to students
where it is practical to do so.

TO: NEW AND EXISTING MALAYSIAN STUDENTS (STATUS EN/ EP)


TERMS & CONDITIONS

1. The COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension (continuation fund from the COVID-19 Relief Fund
announced in November 2020) is a one-time funding of fee payment up to a maximum
of RM500.00 per person starting from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022.

This funding would appear in the student bill as “Funded from Covid-19 Relief Fund
Extension” against the total amount of “Common Fees Payable” (further mentioned in
Note 3 below).
2. Students who are eligible to receive the one-time funding under the Covid-19 Relief Fund
Extension starting from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022 are:
(a) TAR UC Malaysian Students Only;
(b) New or Existing Students (Status EN/EP)
Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension is only available to Malaysian students for “Common
Fees Payable” offset.
3. The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension is not exchangeable for cash. It is used to fund the
“Common Fees Payable” by TAR UC Malaysian students as follows:

(a) Tuition Fee


(b) Facilities and Resource Fee
(c) Laboratory/ Workshop Fee
(d) Research Fee (for Postgraduate programme only)
(e) Examination and Service Fees (for Postgraduate programme only)
(hereinafter referred to as “Common Fees Payable”)

The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension does not cover:


i. Status EZ/ ED/ ES/ EF/ DR students with Status Maintenance Fee to pay
ii. Other miscellaneous bills (e.g. Resit/ Repeat, Convocation, Vehicle Stickers, etc)
4. Students with “Common Fees Payable” lesser than RM500.00 in a student bill shall have
the balance of relief reflected in the subsequent semester bill starting from Session
September 2021 to Session June 2022 against the total amount of “Common Fees
Payable”.
5. For Malaysian students who opted for fees instalment payment plan, the instalment
payment amount shown in the student bill is net after the funding from Covid-19 Relief
Fund Extension. Or else, the one-time relief fund would be reflected in the subsequent
semester bill starting from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022 against the
total amount of “Common Fees Payable”.

1. What is COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension?


It is the continuation fund assistance from the Covid-19 Relief Fund (announced in November
2020) to continue assisting TAR UC Malaysian students in the payment of fees.

2. How can I benefit from the COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension?


The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension continues to provide a one-time funding of fee payment up
to a maximum of RM500.00 per person starting from Session September 2021 to Session June
2022.

The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension is to fund student fees only and is not exchangeable for
cash.

3. Who is eligible for the COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension?


Students who are eligible to receive the one-time funding under the Covid-19 Relief Fund
Extension starting from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022 are:

(a) TAR UC Malaysian Students Only;


(b) New or Existing Students (Status EN/EP)
Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension is only available to Malaysian students for “Common Fees
Payable” offset. Composition of “Common Fees Payable” is explained below.

4. Is the COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension applicable to all types of fees?


No. The Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension is to fund the following “Common Fees Payable” only:
(a) Tuition Fee
(b) Facilities and Resource Fee
(c) Laboratory/ Workshop Fee
(d) Research Fee (for Postgraduate programme only)
(e) Examination and Service Fees (for Postgraduate programme only)
(hereinafter referred to as “Common Fees Payable”)

5. Do I have to apply for it?


No. The one-time funding would be automatically reflected in the student bill as “Funded from
Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension” against the total amount of “Common Fees Payable”. All
decisions are final. No appeals are allowed.

6. Would I be eligible for COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension RM500.00 if I have


applied for fee instalment payment plan?
Yes. Your instalment payment plan would be the net amount payable after the funding of the
relief. Or else, the one-time relief fund would be reflected in the subsequent semester bill starting
from Session September 2021 to Session June 2022 against the total amount of “Common Fees
Payable”.

8. If I am a graduating student with no fees to pay in that semester, can UC


give me COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension RM500?
No. Unless the student continues study at TAR UC within the validity period. The one-time
Covid-19 Relief Fund Extension would be reflected in bill against the total amount of “Common
Fees Payable”.

9. If I am a 100% Merit scholarship holder with no fees to pay in that semester,


can UC give me COVID-19 Relief Fund Extension RM500?
No. The relief would be reflected in the subsequent semester bill starting from Session
September 2021 to Session June 2022 against the total amount of “Common Fees Payable”.
