4. For the circuit shown, if R=6 ohms, the power supplied by 6 V battery is ______ W.

Taking i-as out of 12 V battery, the current throug 6 ohms resistor is given by,
(6-12 +i*6)=0, Solving for i we get,
i=6/6 =1.0 A.
The current through 4 ohms resistor is 6/4 = 1.5 A.
Therefore, the current to be deliverd by 6 V battery is 0.5 A.
Hence, the power associated with 6 V battery is 0.5*6 = 3W

5. For the circuit shown, if Is = 6 A, the current through 3 Ω resistor is:

Note that due to the current source, Is enters 3 resistors, 1 Ω, 2 Ω and 3 Ω which are
connected in parallel. The voltage V across this combination is obtained as
(1+ 1/2 +1/3) V = Is
Therefore, we can solve for V as V= Is*(6/11) volts.
Hence the current through 3 Ω resistor is = V/3 = 6*(6/11)/3 = 12/11 A

6. In the given figure, the unknown current I_0 =_______ A. The power absorbed by the
current-dependent voltage source P_{2I_x} =______ W.
Noting the voltage across 2 ohms resistor, or by applying KVL to the first loop, we have
I_0 = (6-2I_x)/2.
Where I_x = -6/1 = -6 A. Thus, we get I_0 = 9 A.
Now, the power absorbed by the dependent voltage source is
P_{2I_x} = [2I_x \times I_0] = [-12 \times 9] = -108 W.
