Reading comprehension 1
1 a) Read these texts about Michelle’s friend Tina. Are the sentences true (T) or false (F)?
1 I’m Tina’s mother, Sandra. There are only
three of us in our family. Tina’s twelve. She’s
very hardworking, just like her father, and
likes going to school – she likes books,
languages and science. She doesn’t have
many friends, but she has got two pets – a cat
and a dog. Tina always spends time with
them. They’re part of the family!
2 I’m Dan, Tina’s father. I love watching her
grow, but I work all day, so my wife and Tina help me with the housework. I have to say, Tina is
a very honest person. She is also always there for her friends. She likes so many things that you
can talk to her about everything. I think that’s why everyone likes her so much.
3 Hi! My name’s Olivia and Tina is my very good friend. I’m a year younger than her. Not many
people know that she can speak English, Spanish and Italian. Our classmates think I’m a talker,
but Tina is a great presenter – her presentations are always short and clear. She can also type
fast! And
she knows how to ride a horse. She’s the best!

1 Tina’s parents have got other children,

too. 2 Tina likes studying and reading.
3 Tina likes playing sports in her free
time. 4 You can often find Tina with her
pets.
5 Tina’s father is rarely at home.
6 Tina doesn’t help around the house.
7 Helping others is what Tina really likes
doing. 8 Olivia is thirteen years old.
