YOUTH LEADERSHIP EMPOWERMENT-ONLINE TRAINING SUPPORT

Good afternoon to our esteemed guests, SDO Valenzuela officials, youth leaders,
educators, friends, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to this Youth Leadership Empowerment-
Online Training Support!
More than half of the world’s population is under the age of 30. While young people have
every opportunity and right to participate fully in the lives of their societies, they are often
left on society’s margins: as a group, they are affected by discrimination and lack of access not
only to employment and education but also to decision-making processes that define the course
of their future.
Young people have the energy, creativity and idealism to challenge entrenched patterns
of exclusion and injustice and should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Even
though young people are not a homogeneous group, they are uniquely placed to bring positive
change in society. Social media and new technologies are embedded in young people’s lives, and
that knowledge can be used to catalyze collective action. Therefore, youth is in a central
position to drive positive transformation, acting as key agents for development and peace.
And that’s the reason why we are gather here this afternoon.

I. To formally begin our program, let us have the singing of the Nationalistic Song which will be
followed immediately by the Prayer through an Audio-Visual Presentation.

II. Again, a blessed and good afternoon to all! The former Secretary-General of United
Nations Kofi Anan once said, and I quote “Any society that does not succeed in tapping into the
energy and creativity of its youth will be left behind.” Truly, young people are not passive
objects of policies or politicians but active agents of change. This significant proportion of
society must have the right to actively shape the present and the future of the world and be
recognized in doing so. Now, let us lend our ears to the Welcome Remarks of one of the most
respectable leaders in the SDO of Valenzuela, the SGOD-Chief Education Supervisor, Dr.
Baltazar M. Gayem.

III. (Thank you, Dr. Gayem, for wholeheartedly welcoming us in this afternoon’s activity)
Educational leaders play a pivotal role in affecting the climate, attitude and reputation of their
schools. They are the cornerstone on which learning communities function and grow. With
successful school leadership, schools become effective incubators of learning, places where
students are not only educated but challenged, nurtured and encouraged. Thus, we are lucky to
have here with us, educational leaders in our division. Let us listen to the message of the
Officer-in-charge, Office of the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Rustica R.
Lorenzo.

(Thank you, Dr. Lorenzo, for your heartwarming message.) Now, let us listen to the message of
the Officer-in-charge, Office of the Schools Division Superintendent, Dr. Meliton P. Zurbano.
IV. (Thank you, Dr. Zurbano, for those words of wisdom you have shared with us.) At this
juncture, for the statement of purpose, here is the SDO Project Development Officer I, Mrs.
Anacleta Carlota S. Bernardo.

V. (Thank you, Ma’am Bernardo.) “The youth of today are the leaders tomorrow”; this quote
from Nelson Mandela is a widely known remark that encourages us to believe in our youth. The
countries which utilize their youth in right direction are more developed. The ability, spark and
brightness of the minds of youth act as torchbearer for a nation. Hence, our youth should get
proper and complete education and take part in welfare activities to the betterment of our
society. In this light, let us listen to our esteemed speakers in discussing the roles of the youth
as future leaders of the next generation.

VI. (Thank you, Ma’am Daarol and Ma’am Herera.) Undoubtedly, empowering our youth leaders
will help them understand and value the importance of education and give them the opportunity
to make better decisions for the future while giving them more options for their careers. At
this point of time, let us listen to another esteemed leader in our SDO, for the closing remarks,
the Education Program Supervisor, Dr. Salvador A. Gaban, Jr.

VII. (Thank you, Dr. Gaban.) May our youth commit themselves as future leaders with the
strength of character, tower of courage and determination, and bastion of integrity and
perseverance. Thank you for joining us in this webinar. God bless us all!
