Task 1: Role Play

Instructions:

Perform a role play on one of the following scenarios. Script the conversation on the scenario
you choose (approx. 250 words).

Scenario 1:

You are currently employed in a company called ‘Next Engineering’. Your company is
currently accepting expressions of interest for the launch of the graduate program for this
year.

You receive a phone call from a recent graduate who wish to clarify on the following:

• When the graduate program will start and the duration

• The career paths of the graduate program
• When they will be notified about the outcome

However, the recruitment executive responsible for handling graduate recruitments is

unavailable. Identify a strategy to explain to the caller the unavailability of that person and
take the message/contact details, providing an assurance that the relevant person will call
back with the details.

Scenario 2:

As the project manager, you have been contacted by a customer with recommendations on
how you can improve your software product. Your company values customer feedback and
often incorporates viable suggestions in their product enhancements. However, due to the
current resource limitations, you are unable to implement them, in the near future. Identify an
effective strategy to show appreciation, build rapport, communicate why they cannot be
implemented soon and ensure that the suggestions will be added to the task backlog.
