Chapter 3

Research Methods and Procedures

This chapter will discuss and elaborate the research methods that will be use in

the study. The researchers will explain the reason and justification of the sampling

techniques. Research methodology will be explained, it includes how the researchers

will gather the data and the procedures that will used. The subject of the study will be

included and explain the profiles of the subjects that is needed, the statistical

treatment of the data, and the statistical method are given.

Research Design

In order to meet the objectives of the research, and to find out the strategies

use to achieve The Effects of Covid-19 Pandemic to The Small Businesses in

Barangay Dalig, quantitative method will be use in gathering relevant information.

Quantitative methods emphasize objective measurements and the statistical,

mathematical, or numerical analysis of data collected through polls, questionnaires,

and survey, or by manipulating preexisting statistical data using computation

techniques. Quantitative data collection may include any method that will result in

numerical values. Common examples of quantitative data collection strategies may

include: Experiments and clinical trials. Surveys, interviews and questionnaires that

collects numerical information or counting data by using close-ended questions.

Subject of the study

In this study, fifty-eight (58) respondents from The Small Businesses in Brgy.

Dalig will be selected to participate in this process- Checklist, for identifying what are

the different effects of the Covid 19 to them and to their business.

Sampling Techniques

In this research purposive random sampling technique will be used. It is more

applicable in this reason, wherein the researchers decided to choose 58 respondents

from the Small Businesses in Barangay. Dalig. This non-probability sample that is

selected based on the Business and the objective of the study.

The respondents will be chosen from selected business in Barangay Dalig.

After this selection, the researcher will give a checklist to the respondents wherein the

data will be gathered for the study.

Research Instrument

The instrument that will be use in conducting the research is Checklist-the

checklist will be use as the main data gathering tools to know the different strategies

of Small Businesses. The checklist is divided into two. The profile, which contains

the name, gender, age types of Business and years of Business. The table contain the

different question regarding the Income, Capital, Number Costumers and Product

supplies and it will be answered by checking their experienced during COVID–19

Pandemic.

Procedure of Data Gathering

The researchers submit the titles to the adviser of a research and decided to

choose another title after proposing the first one. The adviser helped to do some

changes with the title. They were asking to do the chapter one which is the

Introduction of the study. After a week, they were asking to submit the chapter two

which is the review of the Related Literature. Correspondingly, the data and

significant information needed will be gathered through checklist that will be

distributed to those 58 respondents’ in the Small Businesses in Brgy. Dalig. The

checklist includes the profile, which contains the name, gender, age types of business

and years of business. The table contain the different question regarding the Income,

Capital, Number Costumers and Product supplies and it will be answered by checking

their experienced during COVID-19 Pandemic. The result will be analyzed in chapter

four. The analyzed data will be concluded and summarized in chapter five.

Statistical Treatment

Responses to the checklist are given to the Small Businesses in Brgy. Dalig

will be statistically analyzed with the data requirements of the researcher’s study.

Using sample descriptive statistics such as frequency counts and percentage, the

percentage will be computed by using this formula:
