After this learning journey of MGG 199, I think is a useful module to a certain extent. It
teaches way to study better in this last lap of most students’ study journey till the working
society. However, I believe this study methods can also be performed in the context of
working society. Reason being, in our current society, technology is constantly advancing.
Hence, companies may send employees for courses to better equip employees with
appropriate skillsets, which is subjective to industries.

In addition, I got to better understand the corporate social responsibility and individual
social responsibility. Corporate and individual social responsibility have been an increasing
trend which many companies and individuals are incorporating and improving. I know its
existence; however, I never knew the difference factors in corporate social responsibility.
Before introducing to corporate social responsibility in MGG, I thought they were gimmicks
for consumers to purchase the service and products of the company. Being specialized in
marketing in business administration in Singapore Polytechnic, I perceived corporate social
responsibility is a form of enhancement of brand images. When a positive brand image is
portrayed, it increases the sales of products and services, generating profits for the
company. It did not occur to me the importance of corporate social responsibility.

After being introduced to corporate social responsibility, I realized that my perceptions of it

are inaccurate. Corporate social responsibility is to improve the community and
environment through business practices and operations. Individual social responsibility is
the individual responsibility to improve and protect the community and environment
through individual movements and actions. By learning Individual social responsibility, it
impacted me positively. It motivates me to carry out actions to save and improve the
environment and community. For example, simple actions like saving electricity, water,
paper. These are forms of individual social responsibility. These actions are small; however,
they become bad habits that individuals find them hard to kick away. For example, wasting
electricity by not switching off the fans and lights after using them, wasting water by letting
the tap runs while brushing one’s teeth and etc. These habits just have to be slowly
corrected and cultivated; our world could be a better place for everyone to live in.

In this module, I think there can be more flipped lectures, replacing tutorials. To evaluate if
a student listens to the lectures, there can be online quizzes. In addition, there can be more
projects related to MGG, to further enhance and reinforce the knowledge of topics. There
are projects, but the projects are a little narrow. In the sense that, it is a little difficult to
relate the projects to our daily lives. Hence, for individual social responsibility, there can be
a project whereby students must do a significant social responsibility to improve both the
community and environment. This can further enforce the importance of individual social
responsibility.

It is a fruitful journey learning MGG 199, I believe with the skillsets learnt in this course can
bring me to greater heights in my future endeavors.
