Social:

1 thing that went well- the students really enjoyed the group activity where they recreated the
rules of a game that they knew. It worked better that I pre-made the groups based on
personality and strengths rather than just having the students work in groups based on what
rows they are in.

1 thing that I would change- it would have been more fun for the students if we had enough
time to play the games that they wrote out the rules for.

Math:

1 thing that went well- Differentiation was very effective in this math lesson. There were three
different activities for four different groups.

1 thing that I would change- I learned that the raccoon group was not ready to learn near
doubles. We will adjust the lesson for tomorrow so the raccoons are doing a doubles activity.

1 thing that went well- I think all of the students really enjoyed the game that I created that put
everything together that we have been learning.

1 thing that I would change- Next time when the whole class is going to be playing the same
game instead of doing guided math, we could do a whole group lesson and then give students
the opportunity to play the game with someone who they don’t normally work with.

Math:

1 thing that went well- the students worked well today. Math was different today because
students were doing individual math and math with a partner while I worked with students
one-on-one.

1 thing that I would change- I would have students working in two groups while I am working
with students one-on-one because the noise level was quite high when all of the students
moved to the math with a partner games.

Math:

1 thing that went well- I was really impressed with the hard work that students put into their
individual activities and partner games. We had to use some of science in order to complete all
of the assessments.

1 thing that I would change- At the beginning of class when I am explaining the individual
activities and partner games when I am going to be working with students one-on-one, we need
to review what an emergency is and when they can interrupt me. Most students asked three
students before they interrupted me or followed directions, but a few of them more than once
interrupted me and the student I was working with. I will also continue to write on the board
what students are supposed to be working on so they know what to do when they finish
something.

Science:

1 thing that went well- the students really enjoyed the Indigenous inspired lesson where they
had to choose an object or material and write about what the object or material would do or
say. As a class we then guessed based on the clues that were given what object or material
each student wrote and drew a picture about.

1 thing that I would change- math took a little longer than expected today because I wanted to
make sure that we finished up the addition assessments and the Indigenous inspired lesson
took longer than I anticipated. This left not enough time to complete the objects and materials
summative assessments. Next time, I should have pushed the Indigenous inspired lesson to
after the break and completed the assessments. This won’t be a true assessment of students’
knowledge surrounding objects and materials because they will have had a week of holidays
and it will be difficult to remember what we learned prior to the break.
