COURSE TITLE: CBMEC 2 STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course explains how firm manages its resources to achieve its goals and objectives
successfully. Strategic management is an action plan to ensure performance targets are
met and the business continues to grow. It also provides overall direction by developing
plans and policies designed to achieve objectives and then allocating resources to
implement the plans. At the end, it helps the organization to gain competitive
advantage. In effectively implementing strategic management, it requires strategic
intent, strategy formulation, strategy implementation and strategy evaluation. These
major concerns will be discussed in this course.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

At the end of the semester, the students will be able to:


1. Understand the strategic decisions that organisations make and obtain the ability
to engage in strategic planning.
2. Explain the basic concepts, principles and practices associated with strategy
formulation and implementation.
3. Integrate and apply knowledge gained in basic courses to the formulation and
implementation of strategy.
4. Analyze and evaluate real life company situations and develop creative solutions
using a strategic management perspective.
