What I Need to Know

This module gives you information on how to care the reproductive organs
properly. The reproductive organs are very sensitive parts of the body. Lack of
proper care can result to discomfort and even illness.

In this module you will learn the proper care for the reproductive organ of boys
and girls. It is here that you will learn some hygienic practices.

At the end of this module you are expected to:

1. State proper ways of maintaining health and hygiene of the reproductive


system.
2. Practice healthful habits to maintain a hygienic reproductive system
3. Infer how diseases can affect the reproductive system.

To achieve the objective cited above, you are to do the following:


• Take your time reading the lessons carefully.
• Follow the directions and/or instructions in the activities and exercises
diligently.

To protect ourselves and others from illness, we need to have good personal
hygiene. Taking care of the reproductive organs contributes to the overall health of
the person.

The reproductive organs are very sensitive parts of the body. Lack of proper
care can result to discomfort and even illness. This lesson will teach you the proper
hygiene to avoid discomfort and prevent serious illnesses.

1. Practice healthful habits to maintain a hygienic reproductive system


2. State proper ways of maintaining health and hygiene of the reproductive
system.
3. Infer how diseases can affect the reproductive system.

What’s In

You have noticed that there are changes happening in your body and you
don’t feel good about it. Your mother noticed it and reminded you to always take
good care of your reproductive organs. What will you do? How are you going to do
about it? Why is it important to take good care of your reproductive system?

In this lesson, you will find out the healthful habits to maintain a hygienic
reproductive system, the proper ways of maintaining health and hygiene of the
reproductive system and how diseases can affect the reproductive system.

Healthful Habits Always Sometimes Never

Proper care of the reproductive organs starts with wearing of clean


underwear. Boys and girls of your age must practice proper hygiene to avoid
discomfort and serious illnesses.

What Is It

Here are some of the hygienic practices you can do.

Proper Hygiene for Male

During puberty, your body experiences many changes. You should be aware that
practicing proper hygiene is important.

1. Take a bath everyday and wash your external reproductive organs with
soap and water.
2. Keep your comfort room clean. See to it that the toilet bowls are clean
before using them
3. Always change your underwear as often as needed.
4. Keep yourself clean.
5. Exercise regularly

Proper Hygiene for Female

Menstruation is one of the vital processes of a woman’s body which deserve


utmost caution and self care. Ensuring proper hygiene during menses, and eating
right is the key to ease the pain you go through.

1. Wash your vagina regularly to maintain good hygiene.

2. Borrowing of underwear should be avoided.

3. Change your underwear often.

4. Change your sanitary napkin every 4-6 hours to avoid rashes and infections.

5. Consult a physician if problems may occur.

 During menstruation, girls may experience pain in the lower abdomen.


This is called menstrual cramps or dysmenorrhea.

Ways on how girls can relieve themselves from pain caused by menstruation

1. Take enough rest. Avoid staying up too late.

2. Apply a warm compress on the lower abdomen

3. Do moderate exercise like cycling movements while lying down.
