Nagas are the divine serpents. They are mystical healers and possess
knowledge of occult sciences and vast amount of riches. Vishnu
himself is lying on a Naga - the Ananta Shesha. Vasuki was the naga
that was used as the rope to churn the cosmic ocean to obtain Amrit.
This shows that Ashlesha natives will be instrumental in removing the
hidden jewels of the society. These jewels may be in the form of
money, finance, knowledge, occult sciences, research, etc.

Naga are the children of Sage Kashyapa and the mother Kadru.
Kadru placed a wager with Vinata, mother of Garuda and Aruna,
Sun God’s charioteer, on the color of the tail of Ucchaishravas (7
headed flying horse, created during churning of ocean and is a
vahana of Lord Sun). Vinata says its white. Kadru then asks her
sons nagas to cover the tail to make it look black. As a result
of winning the wager, Vinata and her sons are subject to slavery by
Kadru and her sons. Garuda wants to break free of slavery and asks
for a way to win their freedom back. The nagas tell Garuda to get
elixir of immortality amrit from Indra, that the freedom can be
earned. Garuda then approaches Indra, who doesn’t agree to share
amrit with the nagas. Garuda convinces Indra that as soon as he
hands over amrit to the nagas, Indra can come in and take the pot of
amrit away therefore denying the amrit to the nagas, and there by
creating a win-win situation for both of them. Thus Garuda hands
over the pot of amrit to the nagas, and as soon as the pot is handed
over, Indra comes in and takes it away. Some drops of amrit is
supposed to have fallen to the ground, which the nagas tried to lick.
The sharp blades of grass in the ground ended up being the reason
for the nagas or the snakes to have forked tongues as per the legend.
This story theme can be connected with the idea of deceiving, distrust,
and hiding the truth just as they did for the tail of Ucchaishravas. The
forked tongues may be an indication in their difference in speech and
action.

Sarpas are often associated with the poisonous glands and Ashlesha
natives can be associated with working on poisonous items, liquid
chemicals, pharmaceuticals, medicines, etc.

The abode of Nagas is Patala, decorated with brilliant, beautiful and

pleasure shedding jewels. The naga loka is surrounded with beautiful
groves, streams, lakes . Splendid ornaments, fragrant perfumes, music
etc beautifies the naga loka and at some stage surpass the Indarloka
too. This theme indicates Ashlesha natives will be interested to live in
beautiful surrounding decorated with artificial gems and jewels and
would be much interested in decorating their home. Interior decorators
can be a common job profession for them.

Snakes commonly shed their skin on regular basis and in few weeks
attain a new skin on their body. The theme of nakedness, being bare-
bodied can be associated with Ashlesha natives. Snakes generally
encircle its victim and tightens its squeeze everytime its victim
inhales. Enemies or competitors of Ashlesha natives may experience
similar calculating and shrewd treatment.
