History of Christian Liturgy

Assignment:
LIFE EXPERIENCE IN THE FILIPINO CULTURAL CONTEXT
1. Do you prefer such celebration as: choose only two then explain your
answer. (5 points)

 Bible Sharing/ Reflection

-I prefer this one because it allows me to speak on God's behalf.

It makes me happy and at ease because I was able to contribute to his ministry and
share my thoughts and knowledge from the Bible. Sharing and reflecting on the Bible
keeps me from making mistakes and helps me to become a good person in accordance
with God's will.

 Prayer Sessions

-Whenever I felt lonely, betrayed, unloved, or unworthy, I

always prayed to God. I confessed everything that was in my heart and the burdens
that I was carrying. Talking to God is the best option because he will never judge you
and is always available to provide comfort. He loves me unconditionally, and even
though I am unworthy of his love, he has never left my side.

2. Do we attend liturgical celebrations because? Choose only two then explain

your answer. (5 points)

 Baugalian, kinagisnan na namin ito

-I attend to this celebration/tradition because this where I’m

used to it. Since when I was young, my mother is an Adventist and my father was a
catholic but I grew to an Adventist environment. During sunset on the Friday, we stop
from what we are doing just like going home early, get things to be done and prepare
for the Sabbath. Up until now, I used to practice this and sanctify the Sabbath as our
day of rest.

 Obligasyon

-I attend to this celebration/tradition because it is my moral

obligation, and as a Seventh-day Adventist, it is my responsibility to be a part of its
ministry and mission to spread the message of God throughout the world. As God's
child, I have an obligation to fulfill my mission, which is to introduce our Almighty
Creator to them and bring them closer to Jesus' feet.

REFLECT AND ANSWER (5 points each)
1. Reflect on any liturgical celebration where you experienced more deeply
the presence of Christ.

-The liturgical celebration where I experienced more deeply the presence of

Christ was when I heard the sermon about the second coming. In this trying times, we
are in the end and sooner, God will return and put the whole world into judgement.
This is where I concluded to myself that we should work hand and hand by spreading
his messages to the man-kind and hold our faith steadfast to him. We should follow
him wholeheartedly not because we are afraid to be put on fire but because we want to
serve him and acknowledge him as our savior.

2. How does the liturgy influence my spiritual life?

-The closer you are to God, the more secure and safer you are. God is the
source of everything. He provides our daily needs and protect us against the enemy. In
this world full of chaos and uncertainties, God is trying to reach us with the help of
the holy spirit to do his works and to reflect himself upon us. The liturgy influence my
spiritual life by participating to his works and help to ministered the gospels. It gives
me the privilege to grow in spirit and brings me closer to God. It reminded me the
limitations that I had as a person and gives me room of improvement to fixed myself.
It gives me healing from my past mistakes and transform me into a new person. God
is so good and thank him for that.

3. What are the obstacles in life that create difficulties in my ability to

celebrate?

-There are times in my life when I find it difficult to participate in God's important
celebration because the enemy is attempting to tempt me to make mistakes that
separate me from our savior. I am an Adventist, and we celebrate sabbath day on
Saturday because that is where God rests and sanctifies that day for us. I don't always
go to church; instead, I go to malls or work on school papers. I find my own
happiness in the things I enjoy, not in the things God desires. I felt guilty and tired
every time I made the same mistakes. But thanks to my friends, family, and fellow
church members who helped me get back on my feet and closer to God.

4.  What efforts do I make to understand and participate meaningfully in the

liturgical celebration?

-I pray to God to keep me from repeating the same mistakes and to guide me in
carrying out his works for mankind. I read the Bible to remind myself that I am loved
and valued as a person. I play the piano at our church service and provide meditation
accompaniment to our Almighty Creator. And I intend to try to change myself in
order to become a better person and version of myself. By the grace of God, I know
that I will.
