In the last few years, the number of students enrolling universities and colleges has

became increasingly high. Therefore, this leads to a controversial argument

whether pupils should work as a part-timer or not. In the forthcoming essay,
reasons why I agree with this to some degree will be presented.
On one hand, the merits of part-time working are undeniable. First of all, it is
undeniable that students will gain first-hand experience and skills from their new
working environment. For example, getting a job which needed teamwork will
teach students how to effectively cooperating with the others while working by
themselves will help them be more self-confident. Futhermore, undergraduates
carrying financial burden of tuition fees can earn their own money. As a result,
they will less worry about their daily expenses and be more independent of their
parents.
On the other hand, however, not all aspects of doing part-time work are beneficial.
First and foremost, when it comes to time management, because of their job taking
up so much time, part-time working students often have less time to review lessons
and study. Consequently, many have to stay up late to finish their homework and
assignments which is harmful to their health. Secondly but not less importantly,
working also distracts learners from their study which is often caused by tiredness
and overwork. If students do not focus on their lessons at school, many of them
will get poor grades and can be expelled from university.
All thing considered, while part-time working will broaden one’s experience and
partly alleviate their financial problem, students also affected by having less time
and less concentration on learning. In my perspective, it would be the best to let
students make their own decision about having a part-time job or not.
