WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE

Create WBS Simple WBS

Create WBS is the process of subdividing project


deliverables and project work into smaller, more manageable
components.
The key benefit of this process is that it provides a
framework of what has to be delivered. This process is
performed once or at predefined points in the project.

Two ways to create WBS:

1. Top down approach – decomposing the overall project


into sub project or lower level task

2. Bottom up approach – team member make a list of low


level task needed to complete the project

CREATE WORK BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE

Stage to create WBS Simple WBS

1. Begin by identifying how project work is to be reported to


stakeholders.
2. Identify the major deliverables to be produced by reviewing the scope
statement.
3. Break each deliverable down into sub-deliverables or interim
deliverables.
4. Continue decomposing each deliverable to a level where it can be
adequately:
➢ Defined
➢ Estimated
➢ Scheduled
➢ Budgeted
➢ Assigned to a work group
5. Assign a unique code to each element to identify it for further tracking.

Productivity is obtain by estimating based on record previous project


and also data from equipment manufacturer.
