WHAT IS ?
E-waste includes Electronic waste, e-Waste, e-Scrape, or Waste Electrical
and Electrical equipment that cause harm to the environment.

Recycling e-waste to minimize

pollution is called e-management.

Why do we need it?

They produce toxic chemicals that
pollute the environment. Hence it
is very important for our
environment.

01
Dismantling.
One of the crucial steps in the e-Waste
management process is dismantling.

Dismantling includes opening each

appliance , segregating the housing and
removing the hazardous components.
02
Segregation.
This step is done with a
machine called the e-shredder.

In the process of shredding,

ferrous metal, non-ferrous
metal and plastic are separated
from the bulk.
03
Refurbishment.
Refurbishment (i.e reuse)
refers to the renovation of
used electrical equipments
that have the potential to be
put to its original use.
04
Recyling valuable materials.

Recycling e-waste allows for the recovery of

materials such as gold, copper, glass, aluminum,
lithium, plastic, and more.
05
Disposal of toxic materials.
Chlorofluorocarbons are treated
thermally, Printed Circuit Board is
disposed off in underground storages
and Mercury is often recycled or
disposed off in underground landfill
sites.
WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP DISPOSE E-WASTE
SAFELY?

1. Be a good consumer. Do some research when you’re ready to buy a new product.
2. Reuse as often as possible. If you have parts and equipment that are still working,
try repairing the electronic device before getting a new one.
3. Educate yourself on what gets put into your electronics. Knowledge is power
4. Look for an environmentally friendly label. For example, see if the products you
buy are labeled Energy Star, or have been certified by the Electronic Product
Environmental Assessment Tool.
5. Teach kids about e-waste. Children are our future, and it helps if we can instill
within them at a young age a commit to e-waste recycling.
