Save Life

Reflection paper in Philippine Red Cross

By: Princess Jovie Mary S. Bitanga

The Red Cross is a world famous volunteer organization the main aim of which to help
all people in emergencies. The foundation of the Red Cross work is voluntary help. Volunteers
are people who are ready to spend their time and efforts helping people who desperately need it.

The lesson was a combination of discussions, demonstrations, and simulations. The

training topics covered were: (1) First Aid Generalities, (2) Emergency Action Principles, (3)
Emergency Rescue and Transfer, (4) Soft Tissue Injuries, (5) Bandaging Techniques, (6)
Common Medical Emergencies, (7) Introduction to Basic Life Support, (8) Foreign Body
Airway Obstruction & Heimlich Maneuver, and (9) Cardiac Arrest and Cardiopulmonary
Resuscitation and so much related with health issues. What I leaned is we Filipinos should raise
awareness. When I was in my secondary level I experienced Joining Red Cross. It allows you to
see the world from a new perspective. Helps in emergency everybody who needs it because
human life is the greatest value and it should be in no way neglected. At the same time this
organization is to teach people to work in a group, to be a real team and to act quickly in critical
situations. In our world in most cases we can observe spiritual degradation: the mass media
propagates violence and sexual abuse, people start forgetting about sympathy and tolerance. The
Red Cross was created to encourage people to help each other, to appreciate individual and social
values and be ready to solve problems which refer to the whole humanity.

Doing things for others whether small, unplanned acts or regular volunteering is a powerful way
to boost our own happiness as well of those around us. The people we help may be strangers,
family, friends, colleagues or neighbors. They can be old or young, nearby or far away. This
life-saving measure gives people a new chance at life.

Narrative Report
by: Joeshua Marie Angelo C. Loria
One of the ways the Red Cross makes a difference, is by raising awareness for the plight of others The
story of the Philippine Red Cross is the story of men and women from all walks of life who have
dedicated themselves to the service of humanity.

It is the tale of hundreds of thousands of ordinary people who devoted their time and resources to help the
poorest of the poor. Professionally trained and truly compassionate, these men and women are ready to
lend a helping hand to those in need whoever, whenever and wherever they may be. Philippine Red Cross
has truly become the premier humanitarian organization in the country, committed to provide quality life-
saving services that protect the life and dignity especially of indigent Filipinos in vulnerable situations. At
present, the Philippine Red Cross provides six major services: Blood Services, Disaster Management
Services, Safety Services, Health Services, Social Services, Red Cross Youth and Volunteer Services. All
of them embody the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement
humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. These values
guide and inspire all Red Cross staff and volunteers, to whom being a Red Crosser is more than just a
philosophy but a way of life.

The Red Cross is important on many levels, and it will continue to serve people who need help in a
variety of ways
