1 – Simple Present Tense

Basically, the simple present tense is one of the English tenses


that is often used in the preparation of English sentences. The
reason is, in its use, the simple present tense can function to
state facts (including scientific facts), habits or routines, as
well as events that are happening at the present time.
The English tenses formula used to form simple present tense
sentences is relatively simple, namely:

Subject + Verb 1 (Base/Present Form)

always, every, never, normally, often, sometimes, usually, seldom.

Kalimat Positif

Mario works in a plumbing company.

Mario always works very hard in the company.

Mario walks to work every day.

Kalimat Negatif

Mario does not work very hard in the company.

Mario does not come on time very often.

Kalimat Tanya

“Does he work very hard in the company?”

Dijawab dengan “Yes, he does.”  Atau  “No, he does not.”


2 – Present Continuous / Progressive Tense
In a sense, the present continuous tense or what is often called
the present progressive tense is an English tense that is used to
indicate an action or event that is happening at the time the
conversation is taking place.
In addition, the present continuous tense can also be used to
make a plan or promise in the future.
The English tenses formula used to form the present
continuous tense/present progressive tense is:
Subject + Am / Is / Are + Verb –ing (Continuous Form)

Kata Sinyal

at the moment, just now, now, right now, Listen!, Look!

Kalimat Positif

Look! He is talking with his classmates.

The teachers are having a meeting at the moment.

Kalimat Negatif

He is not playing computer games now.

Listen! He is not laughing anymore.

Kalimat Tanya

Is he playing computer games at the moment?

Dijawab dengan  “Yes, he is.”  Atau  “No, he is not.”

3 – Present Perfect Tense


The present perfect tense can be said to be English tenses
whose function is to show a result. The reason is, this tense
can be used to describe an activity or situation that has started
in the past, and has been completed in the past as well or is
still continuing until now.
In essence, the present perfect tense serves to show an action
that is still ongoing since it started or has just finished.
The English tenses formula used to form the present perfect
tense is as follows:
Subject + Has / Have + Verb 3 (Past Participle)

Kata Sinyal

already, ever, just, never, not yet, so far, till now, up to now.

Kalimat Positif

He has already finished his homework.

She has done her chores.

Kalimat Negatif

He has not been to Australia so far.

She has not completed her assignments.

Kalimat Tanya

Has he completed the arrangement for the coming event up to now?

Dijawab dengan  “Yes, he has.”  Atau  “No, he has not.”

4 – Present Perfect Continuous Tense


Present perfect continuous tense or what is also often called
the present perfect progressive tense is one of the English
tenses which in its use has the function to describe an action
that has been completed in the past or can also describe an
action that has started in the past and is still continuing. lasted
until now.
Usually, the actions that are described in the formation of
sentences using the present perfect continuous tense have a
certain duration of time and have relevance to current
conditions.
The English tenses formula used to form the present perfect
continuous tense / present perfect progressive tense is as
follows:
Subject + Has / Have + Been + Verb –ing (Continuous Form)

for the past 5 years, how long …?, the whole week, since xxxx.

Kalimat Positif

He has been working here since 1996.

They have been waiting in the house since 2 PM.

Kalimat Negatif

He has not been speaking for the last 3 hours.

They have not been sleeping for days.

Kalimat Tanya

Has he been playing the computer game all day?

Dijawab dengan  “Yes, he has.”  Atau  “No, he has not.”
