CONTENT Patterns of Development in Writing


CONTENT STANDARDS The learner comprehends the difference between and among
patterns of development in writing across disciplines.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS The learner critiques a chosen sample of each pattern of
development in writing across disciplines focusing on definition
and exemplification/classification.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES The learner produces each patterns of development in writing
across disciplines focusing on comparison and contrast and
cause and effect.

SPECIFIC LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the lesson, the learners are able to:
1. Distinguish each patterns of development in writing
across disciplines, specifically on comparison and
contrast and cause and effect,
2. Relate the patterns in real life situation,
3. Perform and write an activity related to the topic.

TIME ALLOTMENT 150 minutes
LESSON OUTLINE:
During the lesson, the learners will:
1. Introduction/Review: Recall to them the different Patterns of Development in Writing. (20 minutes)
2. Motivation: Present an activity that will introduce them to the main focus of the discussion. (25 minutes)
3. Instruction/Delivery: Understand the information of comparison and contrast and cause and effect and the difference of the
two patterns. (45 minutes)
4. Practice:
 You are about to make a report on Extra Judicial Killing (EJK). Discuss the detail about it with the use of cause
and effect pattern of text of development.

 You are about to give a report on Typhoon Nina. Discuss the detail about it with the use of cause and effect
pattern of text of development.
 You are a film critic. You are to write a comparative review of two films of the same genre. Use the comparison
and contrast pattern of text development in your review.
 Suppose that you are writing a paper comparing two novels of the same genre. Use the comparison and contrast
pattern in your work. (50 minutes)
5. Enrichment: On your E-book, make an article of any topic with the use of comparison and contrast and cause and effect.
6. Evaluation: Short quiz 10 items. (10 minutes)
