3.1.2 Official License

The official license is categorized in three types: file license, hardware license, and cloud license.
The hardware license is classified in two types: stand-alone encryption key and network
encryption key.

9
3.1.2.1 Configure a File License

SuperMap License Center activates the file license in the way of software activation. You need to
obtain local information through SuperMap License Center, and then submit the information to
SuperMap to get the official license. Update the official license in the local machine to finish the
deployment of the license.

The file license is classified in two types: stand-alone file license and network file license. The
former can only serve the local computer, while the latter can activate all the computers in the
current network. Note that the network key cannot be converted into other computer after being
activated on License Server.

The procedures to activate software as follows:

➢ Generate information of the local machine

Open SuperMap License Center, and then click Generate the file license information to generate
a file named *.c2v under the specified path.

➢ Submit the newly generated file to SuperMap

Submit the *.c2v file into SuperMap, and then an official license named *.v2c will be created and
returned back.

➢ Enable the license

Open the Update page on the SuperMap License Center as shown in the figure below,
10
specify the *.v2c file at File location, and then click Update to activate the license.

3.1.2.2 Configure a Hardware License

The hardware license is a legitimate software license accessed in the form of hardware encryption
key. Currently, SuperMap only provides SafeNet hardware encryption key, which is classified into
the following two types:

⚫ Stand-alone encryption key

The stand-alone encryption key only provides one license, which must be installed on the
same computer with the SuperMap product. It has a green frosted skin.

⚫ Network encryption key

The network encryption key can be installed on any computer in the network, which can
provide multiple licenses. The computer installed with the network key is called as License
Server. The clients in the network don’t need installing the driver of the license to use this
network key. It has a red frosted skin.

On a Window OS, SuperMap GIS 10i products can be operated correctly, even if the client of
stand-alone key or the network key doesn’t install the driver application. However, the license
driver is required at the server of the network key.

If a network segment in the current network environment has configured an available license
server, the license will be automatically accessed and configured. If other network segment has an
available license server, please configure the license according to the following procedures:

11
➢ Open the Settings page of SuperMap License Center

➢ Input IP or name of the license server at Terminal License, and then click Apply

➢ The default connection port of the license is 1947, if the port has been occupied, other
unoccupied port can be set at License Connect Port, and then click Apply

For the license status and the usage situation, please refers to 3.3.1 Check the License Status.

Note:

After the hardware license is inserted into your computer, the signal light is lighten
denotes the key is available.

On the windows OS, after the hardware license is inserted into your computer, it will be
treated as a USB device and run directly.

If one computer has the two types of hardware licenses, the stand-alone key is preferred.

If the virtual machine uses the hardware license, you need to set up the virtual machine
software so as to connect the hardware license.
