OBJECTIVES
After going through this lesson, you are expected to:
1. identify defective nail care tools and equipment;
2. inspect defective nail care tools and equipment at home;
and
3. appreciate the importance of inspecting and identifying
defective tools and equipment at home.

II. CONTENT (Subject Inspected Defective Tools and Equipment in Nail Care
Matter)

● Introduction It is important to have a complete inspection of nail care tools


and equipment before giving any nail care service. You need to
give attention to all the tools and equipment that are defective.
Defective means something that is not working and it’s not
safe to use. There could be some parts of the tools or equipment
that are broken and no longer functional.

Here are some qualities of defective and/or not safe to use


tools and equipment:
1. There is rust on the metal implements
2. The blade of the nail cutter and cuticle nipper is not even.

To prevent any problems and to keep you safe while performing


nail care activity, it is a must that you have a knowledge know-
how in identifying which are functional and non-functional tools
and equipment. Functional are tools and equipment that are in
good condition and can perform its regular functions, while Non-
functional are tools and equipment that are not able to perform
its regular functions due to the defective parts and damage.
Checking of tools and equipment regularly makes you and your
client safe and secure.

3. Segregate the tools and equipment that are functional to that


of non- functional.
4. Label all the non-functional tools, for repair tools, or disposal
tools

5. Dispose properly all the tools and equipment that are no longer
in good condition to avoid accidents.
6. Repair immediately tools and equipment that are defective.
7. Store the tools and equipment that are in good condition and
separate the defective or damaged one.
8. Check the tools and equipment regularly.
