ABSTRACT
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity (WHO, 2017). Mental health is defined as a state of well-being, in which every individual realizes his or
her own potential, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to
her or his community (World Health Organization and Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, 2014). There is consensus that regular physical
activity (PA) can improve physical fitness (PF) and health and assist in the prevention of disease. Several studies have shown that physically
active adults are healthier and have a higher PF than inactive adults throughout different nations and populations groups.
