 Reflection 1
The article is about a female having an unexpected
pregnancy. The decision that was made was to have an
abortion. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Females
tend to plan ahead of things. Not every female wants to have
children and some might be too young for such a drastic
change in their life’s. I have learnt that abortions are not that
big of a deal to females who just don’t think that she is
ready or even want to have children.
This is an emotional issue. I have seen in a photograph
an aborted child laying lifelessly in a doctors hand. An
innocent child that has done nothing wrong. Which leaves me
to say this behavior is unbecoming of a young lady. Stopping
a zygote from developing is committing murder. In my
opinion, women should not have the right to terminate a
pregnancy.
After listening to a song form the chosen topic, it was
all about two teenagers living in the moment in love happy
as ever. The female happen to get pregnant and an abortion
took place. They realized they weren’t ready for children as
they too were children themselves. This leaves me to believe
that teenagers, preadults and adults that are sexually active
should always used protections. Especially if having a child is
not an option or you just happen to be too young.
 Reflection 2

The use of language in the article was formal which

helped me to get a better knowledge about abortion. In my
own opinion the writer from the article was naïve and not very
observant of herself. Also there was no remorse shown for the action
that was taken by the writer. All the writer wanted to do was get the
operation over and done with so she could move on with her normal
life.

The language seen the photograph was very clear which made
me understand how an aborted child looks. In my eyes this was a
sinful decision to kill an innocent human being who has done
nothing wrong.

The song writer made the song very understandable by using

repetition, metaphors and rhymes. Each verse made the song more
vivid; reading this song I could actually visualize the message that
the song writer was trying to put out. The song writer regrets the
decision they made at an earlier phase in their life’s.
 Reflection 3

From the article read, this school based assessment

(SBA) has helped me as a student to make better life
choices. It has taught me to be more aware, careful and less
judgmental. This specific information made me realize that,
females these days will take whatever necessary procedures
that is needed to try and correct a change in life they
weren’t ready for, no matter the health risk. Being an adult
or even a teenager while being sexually active mishaps can
take place and turn into an abortion, taking health risk is
something I as a female would not want or even think of.
This project has molded my mind to be responsible and make
important life choices.
Analyzing the photograph seeing an aborted incipient
laying in the doctors hand has widen understanding of what
abortion really is. This motivated my thinking skills in
decision making to think wisely. It has made me aware of the
cruel decision that was made. Therefore it made me mindful
of my life choices.
Being reckless and making rash decisions can come
back to haunt you and that’s why thinking before I do
something is a very important lesson that I picked up. After
listening to the song it has powered my belief against
abortions. I learned that once its been done there’s no going
back, so thinking ahead and careful planning is necessary.
 Plan of investigation
Theme that was selected by group members is abortion. The
topic that I will be focusing on however is how an abortion can
affect female health. I was interested in this theme mainly because
of the exposure I had from persons in my community and the concern
I had about their health. During the process of completing this
investigation, I wish to improve on my research skills and
vocabulary. I intend to collect information by giving out
questionnaires and conducting interviews. A questionnaire will be
given to females that has had an abortion before allowing me to have
a greater understanding on the topic chosen also an interview will be
carried out to get the necessary information that I need for this
project.

When I first found out about you

When I first found out about you I just turned 28 (it was my
birthday)..I historically cried in the doctors office...I knew my
period hadn't come in 3 months...but I was stressed out to to the
max..thought my period delay was stress..until I knew....it only
took a couple days to get over the initial shock of it all..after that..I
couldn't stop daydreaming about you..I fell in love..wondering if
you had your dad's eyes..or his hair..or even his facial
features..would you be just as tall was him? I dreamed of dancing
in the living room with you..making you dance....singing, doing air
guitar with some really good 80s songs. You hugging
me....napping with me, saw your first day of elementary..to your
high school..to you moving on throughout your years..the ones I
looked forward too..is when I felt your hand as I was walking to
work..even swear to god your dad was happy too..but I guess
not..he was more shocked how my body was growing for you..but
in his mind he made it clear. All he had in his Head was red flags
everywhere....I didn't wanna raise you without a father..or have to
rely on child support..nor did I want anyone to take "my precious
moments" and miss it all because it'll be theirs..not mine..I was
afraid in time they probably won't live in the same state as me and
fear I'll never see you again..I had a family who probably wouldn't
say much to me if I told them....since they are in a different
state....my boyfriend's mother telling me that her son "isn't
ready"...and co-workers telling me "girl power.." I felt like I was a
tug-of-war....after my boyfriend told me his true feelings...I
decided not to keep you anymore...it's not because of him..it's
because I don't want to raise you on my own, without a father,
nonetheless who is having panicky thoughts...his complaining
about the crying....and so forth....I feel I'll never have another
chance....my motivation is gone..my little boy gone...he faded
away has soon as I heard his fathers emotions..my eyes can't
stop feeling so lost and hopeless..I'm so sorry my sweet baby
boy, mommy will always love you.....I guess it's just not the "right
time" and it hurts..please comfort me whenever you
can.....mommy will need you in times of sorrow..I'm so sorry..I
hope Jesus will love your wavy black hair..

The group theme is abortion, the group topics are “How does an
abortion affects a females health?”, “What influences females to do
an abortion?”, “What are the health risks of an abortion?”

Groups were formed based on our topics in order to complete this

School Based Assessment. Some disadvantages that were faced while
working in this group were; group members hardly communicate,
there were no group meetings and when they were decision making
took time. One group member did not participate. Some advantages
of working in the group were; more ideas were developed, creativity
increases, which helped group members to give different opinions.

Three pieces of data was selected among the group members, the
information in these data explained our topics clearly which helped
us to complete this group report.

The article was an anonymous piece from the New York Times, it
was selected to show how little and carefree a female can think
about an abortion. The language was formal, so readers could
understand what was being written. The image used was a photograph
of an aborted baby in a doctor’s hand. This image had me thinking
about a young child losing his or her chance of living a full life. The
title of the song is “The Gift of Life” by “Desmond Child” the song
speaks about two young adults who were reckless and made a mistake
of having an abortion which they ended up regretting.
 In completion of this School Based Assessment (SBA) process it
has been fulfilling, it also helped us to be more responsible and it
educated us abortion.
