The report and solution (software) completes the solution for the IA.

Problem Definition
In keeping with word limit of report (500 – 700 words) a suggested word limit for problem definition
could be 75 words. The students could skip the causes part and mention how the problem would affect
the organization.

Example:
Creamett, a company which produces variety of ice-cream for sale, needs a website to register orders, so
as to schedule delivery dates for clients who shop online.

Analysis of the Problem

From the facts obtained, percentage value in representation of responses should be used to pinpoint cause
of problem. A suggestion of 150 words could be used.
In writing an analysis based on data collected, the following could be used:

Identification and Justification of IT Tools used in the Solution

 all features used to generate solution must be stated (example, if a query was used, the features
used must be stated and justified – state why they were used)
 can insert in an Appendix, the normalized information used to create solution; use standard
notation
 if a website is used, a hierarchy chart or tree chart should be outlined including links.
 Tools to be used in website include layout diagram, DreamWeaver, FrontPage, (or anything with
a template can be used, but candidate MUST do some customization work), MSWord
 Tools to be used in databases include MSAccess, MSWord (for normalization document, put
document together);
 When speaking of solution, all the productivity tools used MUST be spoken of
 The features employed must be listed and described in terms of what they are doing in light of the
solution
 100 words could be used here in keeping with word limit

After the Analysis of the problem…, the students should then work on their SOLUTION. Following
which, they will work on the Identificaion and Justification…, then the final section of the report

Assessment of the Implications of the Solution

 To discuss it means they will work on both sides (pros and cons). Look in Unit 2 Module 3
 Alleviate impact of issues outlined
 All strategies must be addressed
 175 words could be used here in keeping with word limit

Issues that may arise from the building a website (solutions to issues written in brackets):
 Cost – domain hosting, maintenance of website [develop budget to take care of cost]
 Availability of website [UPS to give additional power OR use of cloud technology to allow for
operation on a mirror site to still be accessible]
 Availability of constant internet access to clients [have available hotspots on location OR a
reward system for doing business with the organization in the form of data service]
 Copyright [register with copyright local agency]
Issues that may arise from the database:
 Due to issues of user friendliness (training [staff could be meeting for training at specified times],
design simplification [buttons could be used to allow for ease of navigation])
 Security to data (passwords level/user [this would be used to allow Administrative use different
from regular user], validation [entry limited after a specified date for instance])

SOLUTION
 If a database is being used, a switchboard can be used for interface purpose, forms and macros
 For a website, navigation buttons can be used; other items such as tabs, hyperlinks, links to email
addresses, scrollbars, textboxes, combo boxes, logos, banners, frames can be used
