“Reality Check: Regulating Future”

Since I was a child, the people I interacted with often asks me, ‘what is your dream?’ and
at school, I remembered our elementary teacher in which we should write what our goals are
and think on how we can achieve it then we will read it at the end of the school year. Moreover,
when I entered high school, we took a video in which we were tasked to talk about our lives 10
years from now then we saved it to a compact disk, which our teacher will give it back to us
before our graduation. This is what I learned, to talk to yourself about life, to unwind the stress
and we should give time for ourselves. Since that time, I constantly write on my diary on what I
already achieve and what needs to be improved. By recording your dreams and goals on paper,
you set in motion the process of becoming the person you most want to be. Put your future in
good hands - your own as stated by Mark Victor Hansen.

In that manner, I was in delight that the one of the topics in ‘Understanding the Self’ is
about goals because it will broaden my perspective on goal setting, and I think it is the most
important aspect of all improvement and personal development plans. It was really a great
ending topic as we, being a 1st year college. Even though, as Bachelor of Science in
Accountancy students, which we already have the same goal, which is to become a Certified
Public Accountant, the steps we will take will be challenging and a long path but once we
achieve it, this will bring us to relief. According to Hannah Bronfman goals give us purpose,
which, in turn, motivates us to make ourselves the best version in all aspects of your life. I think
everyone will accede with this statement; we are encouraged to fight for our goals and dreams
because the invisible can turn into visible. I believe that our life will go with the path we want if
we take an action to it and not being dependent to others. Do not mind the others say and just
do what you want to do. But we should remember also that do not put yourself down if things did
not go the way you expected. We learn things from our failures, and I know that it raises our
enthusiasm to do better the next time.

If they can do it, we also can. We perhaps are inspired by our role models, our parents or
the persons we interact with, that it I think we are setting our goals, to become like them and to
be greater than them. We are motivated and at the same way pressured, if we already achieve
our goal and the persons who are expecting that you are good at that certain thing, they are
always observing you. You might feel that you are holding up the sky, but it becomes heavier as
the attention is always at you. They say dream big, aim high and everything will go as you allow
to, but it is not the world works. The time is passing and there are borderlines that limit your
actions, challenges to pass, I know that every human being was hoping that everything will flow
like water but even a water has its own boundary. Your goals are the road maps that guide you
and show you what is possible for your life said Les Brown. It is a blueprint to create a better
version of us. If we set goals, we can prevent missteps before they occur. I think the most
important thing to do is to always work hard, do your best and do not pressure yourself as you
go onto through challenges.
