Awakening Beans
by: Carmencita B. Daculap

Embracing the fresh morning with a scent of hope from the sweet rays of the sunrise
in the peak of the Mount Victoria was a blast feeling to a lost soul. “Coffee?” Sandy suddenly
came back to her real senses because of a silvery voice. As she slowly lifted her frowning
face, all the pieces of a puzzle gradually formed over a month were blown away in a swift of
the moment, slapping enormous lies and sinking towards her sight the dark shadows of the
past. “BEEEEPPP,” an annoying sound finally boomed, together with every dream and goal
they painted to have a happier family. She didn’t realize the rolling tears running down in
front of a stranger, whom she thought a living dead bound to drown her again to a
magnitude amount of pain. “I think, I’m going to take the opportunity to chase more of the
sunbeams,” leaving him a pale smile, she caressed the defrosting plains while the grasses
swayed like rippling waves in a moss-colored ocean. When she reached the edge of a hanger,
firm plans carved on her mind. Since the stillness of the atmosphere whispered and
uncovered the hidden answer; she was completely at peace for forgiving herself, accepting
deeply the grief, and wanting more to live – after all, she had a lot of time for coffee break.
