WRITTEN REPORT OF GROUP 6

Museum

The word museum has classical origins. In its Greek form ” mouseion” it means “seat of the
Muses” and designated a philosophical institution or a place of contemplation. Its roles is to collect
objects and materials religious and historical importance whether it is tangible or intangible to
preserve and present them to the public for the purpose of education and enjoyment. According to
the NCOM listing, there are currently 161 museums in the country and this museums are classified
into five basic types which is general, natural history and natural science, science and technology,
history, and art. Some example of museum that we can visit is National Museum of the Philippine,
Ayala Museum, National Museum of Fine Arts, The Mind Museum, Metropolitan Museum of
Manila, Armed Forces of The Philippines Museum, CCP Museo ng Kalinangang Pilipino which is
rich of historical things/materials that is from the past. Every museum has their own different kinds
of mission and vision. ( Gallo, Jeraldine P. )

Historical Shrines may be dedicated to a specific deity or theme, but it is often set up as a workspace
as well, to be used in ritual and spell-work. A shrine, on the other hand, is generally used only as a
place to pay tribute to the selected deity. Shrines connect us to our past, to each other, and to
something greater than ourselves. They serve to help us remember and to heal. We have 27 national
shrines scattered in our country but I only listed 14 which are; Bagumbayan, Bonifacio Monument,
Aguinaldo Shrine, Fort Santiago, Intramuros, Biak na Bato, Calle Crisologo, Pinaglabanan Shrine,
Sultan Kudarat Monument, Shrine of Valor, Blood Compact Shrine, Mactan Shrine, EDSA Shrine and
Leyte Landing Memorial Park. Shrines are vital institutions of faith structure in the sacred geography
of the world, therefore given the emergence, significance and role of shrines in the different socio-
religious settings one can hardly afford to underestimate their vital role at the macro and micro level.

FIESTA is a religuous celebration by the Roman Catholic people in honor of saint. That festivities
mostly councide with the day of the patron saint of a particular place. And each barangay has a fiesta
which holds through municipalities and cities depending on the political subdivision in the
Philippines. For example is in San Pablo every January 15 we celebrate the Patron of San Pablo at the

They will perform a sing and dance. Sometimes they have comedy shows or magic show.Theres

build the perya 15 days or 1 month before the day of fiesta. Games are often played during a fiesta to
build comradery amongst the town folks. Sometimes barangay officials organize a games for kids like

celebrate there fiesta but this is the mostly happen. ( Quincy Pauline Ramos )

Festival is a way to celebrate and show the different cultures and traditions of a specific place.
Through festival, locals are able to pass on their traditions to the next generation. It is also a way to
improve and promote the tourism in their place. There are a lot of festivals that are held in our
country. Each one showcase unique traditions and beautiful culture of the locals. (Roann Malate)
