Part 1

How do you improve your listening skills?

I usually write down what I heard, understood, and acknowledged after listening to
videos or podcasts without subtitles. Try listening to no more than four-minute
clips and replay them to see how much information I'm able to retain. I also try to
imagine mental images of what the speaker is talking about while I'm listening to
help retain information. This will help me to remember keywords and phrases
when I listen for long periods.

What difficulties do you get in your listening tasks?

My problems in listening are quickly forgetting what I heard, not recognizing the
words I know, misunderstanding the messages, neglecting the next part while
thinking about the previous part, and being unable to form a mental representation
from words heard

What are strategies?

What benefits do you get from listening skills?

When listening, I'm reviewing a lot of English usages such as vocabulary,
grammatical structures, intonation, accent, and their own interpretation. I can learn
new words and expressions by hearing them frequently. Besides the English
revision, general knowledge from news, features, or even advertising spots is
certainly beneficial for me. I can imitate what I hear and apply it. Listening can be
a good "hobby" while I do other things such as eating, exercising, relaxing, etc.

What things make you interested?

What are the advantages and disadvantages of learning

listening online?
It's convenient because everyone can use their own headphone so that the quality
of listing tasks is improved and people have more opportunities to understand and
do the tasks more correctly
People will have different learning activities thanks to that teachers will host some
learning minigames on platforms such as Classpoint. So, those activities will catch
students' attention to the lessons.

It depends on the speed and quality of the Internet connection and the possibility of
technical problems
Constant social interaction is important for the learning process.

What activities in class do you think it is effective?

Part 2
Which strength/weakness?
The strong point of this video is that the speaker uses simple words so I can easily
understand the content of the video.
The weak points of this video are that the speaker speaks really fast and he uses
some phrasal verbs so it’s slightly difficult to understand. The video seems boring
because there is only one person speaking.

What phrases or words in the audio/video do you like most?

The video I choose doesn’t have big words but simple words that the speaker used
in the video have deeper meanings. An interesting detail in the conversation, also
the words I like are the phrase “point of view” and the verb ”tend”. Because Marty
- the speaker often used them to emphasize that each person has a different mindset
and that we should not impose our mindset on others. In the video, there is an
example that from a designer's point of view, he’s trying to tell a story. He’s
making a claim. He’s making a pitch. It was his gut feeling. However. from the
client's point of view, they're going off the checklist. I got the logo, I got the tag
line, I got the ad campaigns. Check! And they think they're done.

What challenges?
I have to overcome the problems that the speaker speaks rapidly so it makes me so
hard to get the ideas. Also, I quickly forgot what I heard, I did not recognize the
words I know, and I misunderstood the messages because he used some new words
and phrasal verbs.

How many times have you listened/ watched the audio/

video?
I have watched the video approximately 10 times to understand the content of the
video because, for the first time, it’s challenging to be familiar with the speaking
speed of the speaker.

What difficulties do you meet at first?

I have to overcome the problems that the speaker speaks rapidly so it makes me so
hard to get the ideas.

How do you understand the audio/video when you don’t

know some phrases or words?
I will pause and open subtitles. Then, I look at the parts of the word. Are there any
roots in the word? Does the word sound like another word I know? I also break
down the sentence. What can I learn about the word based on the information in
the sentence? Once I have a guess, substitute my word or phrase for the unfamiliar
word to see if it works.
Reasons why you chose it

How you overcame those difficulties

(As I mentioned before) I write down what I heard, understood, and acknowledged
after listening to it without subtitles. Because of the speaking speed of the speaker,
I have to slow the video down and replay it to get as much information as I could. I
also search for new words in a dictionary or make a guess the words based on their
roots or it is like the words I know. This will help me to know new vocabulary and
the content of this video.
