Hafa Adai Marlin Families,
March is Mes CHamoru. We have many fun filled activities for this month. Our CHamoru teachers have
been working tirelessly with our students to prepare for our festivities. I want to thank Sinot Quitugua,
Sinora Santos, and our staff for all their hard work. Second semester progress reports will be available the
week of March 14 – 18, 2022. Our teachers have administered the AimsWeb Test to students beginning
2/21/2022 to 3/4/2022. As we approach the last several months of this school year, our teachers will be
discussing grade level promotions. We will continue to keep all stakeholders informed as we work on
finalizing these plans.

The Guam Department of Education Hearing
Screening Team will be on campus in March to
conduct hearing screening tests.
Kids who have hearing loss, or hearing impairment,
have trouble hearing or understanding some or all
sounds. This can happen when there is a problem
with:
- one or more parts of the ears
- the nerves that send sound signals from the ears
to the brain
- the part of the brain that makes sense of these
signals

Happy March Mini-Marlin Families,
Our Mini-Marlins have learned to recognize various acts of kindness and, most
importantly, have shown so much kindness within the last month! Kudos to all
our families for encouraging kindness at home and for raising KIND KIDS!
This month, we are jumping into the make believe world of Seussville in
celebration of Dr. Seuss birthday! Our focus will be on imagination, creativity,
and literacy as we create our very own STORIES as authors and illustrators,
just like Dr. Seuss. Our mini-marlins will be introduced to story elements and
even have the opportunity to create their own characters! Stories are a GREAT
way for children to express their many wonderful ideas and imagination and we
just can t wait to get started. By the end of this month, we will have newly
written books by our very own mini-marlins! STAY TUNED for our Book Release

Even mild hearing loss in children can cause speech,

language, learning, and social skills problems. That s
why it s important to get your child s hearing
screened at birth and checked regularly.
A hearing specialist will conduct the hearing test
called an audiometrist. The type of test depends on a
child s age, development, and health. A pure tone is a
very specific pitch (frequency) sound, like a note on a
keyboard. Audiometrists watch for a behavioral
response during a test after a child hears a sound.
If your child fails the hearing test, the audiometrist
will make a referral that will be sent home.

Greetings Head Start Parents Guardians!
Springtime will be upon us shortly, and it usually brings us the traditional
theme of new beginnings. So, for the month of March we will still be
continuing our Insect studies and then gradually transition to Gardening.
We’ve noticed that our Head Start children are often interested in life s
most ordinary things. Whenever we go outside, there is always a lot of
interest in insects. Children find them, watch them, follow them, and try to
capture them. In their play at school, the children have shared their
curiosity about the different types of insects they see, how insects move,
where and when we see insects, and the kinds of jobs that involve insects.
We think a study of insects will be a great opportunity for children to
explore their interests. Talk with your child about the different kinds of
insects you see at home. If possible, examine harmless insects you notice
in your community. Thank you for playing an important role in our learning.

Now March is an exciting month as it is the end of
our third quarter and the beginning of our fourth
quarter. Parents/Guarding lets start exploring more
in depth what interests and strengths your child has
that can help and future decisions your child makes
in choosing the path that best suits their needs. Of
course there are many factors and circumstances
that will change over time and might even cause our
students strengths and interests to differ but more
often than not those attributes will grow if nurtured.
There is potential in everybody! Some that might be
untapped, so encourage your child to aim high and
strive for the best.

year, our students with Special Needs continue to
improve their skills in ELA, Math, socialization, behavior,
motor skills, and independent living skills. Students are
working on identifying and ordering letter
names/sounds and numbers. Some of our students are
also reading for comprehension. Our students are able
to tell numbers said to them and some solve single

Greetings Families! March is now upon us and it is an
important month because it marks many historical
events for our island and the nation and also includes a
number of special recognition days that include I Want
You to Be Happy Day March 3 , International Day of
Awesomeness March 9 , Saint Patrick s Day March
17 , and of course the most important of all, Absolutely
Incredible Kid Day March 18 . With this in mind, please
take the time to provide your ELL s with special praise
for any and all academic achievements whether big or
small, so that they can feel happy, awesome, and
incredible for the years ahead leading to graduation!
It s time to build your ELL s self esteem and
confidence! Make it an ongoing tradition in your home
to say Great Job! , Awesome Work! , or You re the
Best! no matter what the accomplishment may be.

We are marching our way to learning in G.A.T.E.!
Students are learning about the engineering
process: Plan, Design, Create, and Improve as
they begin to create a Leprechaun Village. In a
small group, students will brainstorm and
decide on areas they think Leprechauns will
need in a village. Each area will need to serve a
purpose. Then, students will work together to
create their village using reusable materials. It
will be exciting to see what the students create
at the end of this project!
