TASK 2

Directions: Pretend you received an email from West Coast Regional

Council. You were informed about the upcoming job interview next week.

Prepare yourself for the job interview. Be able to answer the following

questions. Write your answer on the next page.

1. What can you tell me about yourself?

-I graduated with my degree in Management accounting two years

ago. I chose that field of study because I've always been interested

counting money and immediately went to work as a cashier and it is a

great opportunity to advance my skills, and continue building my

career and challenging myself. I feel ready to take my career to the

next level so that’s why I’m currently looking for a new opportunity.

2. Why do you want to work for this company?

-I’ve heard of your outstanding reputation, and I would be proud to

work for a company with such an excellent track record and a strong

example of leadership in the industry. I have a friend that works in the

accounting department, and he told me that the culture here is top

notch and that management supports continuing education and

learning on the job while rewarding hard work. Based on his

assessment and encouragement, I think that I would fit in perfectly

with the team here to make an immediate impact.

3. Why have you chosen this field as your career?

- I chosen this field as my career because I feel happy at the same

time I enjoying it while facing problems and be a great addition to the

team. Also through my skills and experience, it will make me stand out

among the others and give them an inspiration to use their experience

as their foundation to be better at work and I’ve always had an

interest in this career.

4. Why did you leave your last job?

-I resigned from my last job because I didn’t feel there was an

opportunity to grow or advance further in that role so I decided a

change would best for my career and I wanted to take on new

responsibilities

5. What salary do you expect?

-I’m more interested in finding a position that’s a good fit for my skills

and interests. I’m confident that you’re offering a salary that’s 75-90K

per year is typical based on the role and requirements.

6. What are your career objectives five years from now? Ten years from

now?

-In five years, my goal is to successfully obtain two certificates that

are related to my position. I took some time to review your website

before this interview, and I noticed that you offer your employees

education advancement opportunities that include pursuing

certifications to further their careers. Using the resources your

company provides its employees, I truly believe that I can pursue my

career goals and eventually move into a management position within

your organization over the next 10 years.

7. What do you feel your strong points are? Your weak points?

-I’ve always preferred to work in groups and find that my collaborative

nature is one of my strongest attributes while my weak points is

sometimes I'm incredibly introverted, which makes me wary of sharing

my ideas in a group setting or speaking up during team meetings. I

feel that I had good intentions and I just wasn't always comfortable

speaking up.

8. How has your education prepared you for this position?

- In college, I feel that I was well prepared for real-life situations and

jobs. Difficult scenario in college have taught me exceptional critical-

thinking skills and that the answers will not always be in front of my

face. Through difficulties like this, I have learned how to solve complex

problems and that high-quality results take hard work.

9. How do you define success?

-I define success in different ways, about doing my job well. I want to

be known as someone who really puts everything she all and goes

beyond and above to fulfill her priorities and I never want to be in a

position that I feel like there is nothing more I can gain or accomplish.

10. In what way do you think you can make a contribution to this company?

-I can contribute my ability and I will bring my uniqueness to your

company. I would contribute my acquired knowledge and skills through

previous experience and would contribute my learning capability to

acquire new knowledge for attaining company goal.

11. What type of relationship do you feel should exist between a supervisor

and subordinates?

- The supervisors should build and maintain a professional

interpersonal relationship with subordinates because having a good

relationships lead to happy employees, which can help to increase

production and to create harmony among team members and also the

subordinates should need to show respect on his/her supervisors.

Instead, they should need to focus on what responsibilities given.

12. What was your most rewarding experience during school?

- The most rewarding experience that I had in college was getting my

diploma and seeing my single mother so proud of me. I consider it the

most rewarding experience of my four years in university because, in

addition to continuing work towards my major and gained valuable

knowledge.

13. Are you more comfortable working in a large group or with just a few

people?

-I am more comfortable working in a large group because I feel more

motivated when I work with. I know that being cooperative and

focused are important aspects of being a successful team member,

and I pride myself in having those qualities.

14. How do you think you work under pressure?

-I think I work under pressure if the deadline of paper works already

announced and I'm not done yet but I enjoy working under pressure

because I believe it helps me grow. In my previous experience, I

always worked well during deadlines.

15. Why should I hire you?

- You should hire me because over the years, I have acquired relevant

skills and experience, which I shall bring to your organization. I have

the experience and the attitude to excel. If given a chance, I will

surely work towards building my expertise, which would prove

beneficial for me as well as your organization and also I feel that I

perfectly fit this role.
