I believe each student is a special person with many individual talents and skills.

They

need a safe, nurturing, and exciting place to grow, share, and showcase these unique

characteristics. It is my life’s mission to create that place for them. I want to be a teacher that

mentors and guides them on the pathway to love learning, while teaching them respect,

empathy, and curiosity for the community and world we live in.

Every classroom is special and made up of diverse students whose learning styles and

abilities are unique to each individual. My role as the teacher is to help them learn and grow in

as many different ways as possible, exciting them to take charge of their own learning. By

presenting the curriculum in an exciting manner, the students will see I too am interested in

learning and am invested in them and their learning careers. Creative activities will show them

learning is fun!

I aim to Instill in each student that they are talented, bright, beautiful, and that they

each have something great to bring to our classroom community. Our space will be a fun, safe,

open, and respectful place to learn. Each student will be able to share, cultivate, and grow their

own ideas and beliefs. I will teach them to believe in themselves for who they are and that

everyone can be a successful student.

I firmly believe that there is always an ongoing need to learn and grow. My goal as the

teacher is to never stop learning from colleagues, parents, the community, and especially the

students themselves. As an undergrad student, I had a professor named George Strimbu; he

adhered to the idea that you should look at everything from a child’s innocent point of view.

Adopting this outlook opens up me up to new and unique ways to teach and learn, gives me a

broader perspective, and will make me a better person and a stronger teacher.
