GENERAL Lineman safety straps furnished to REB specifications shall conform in all respects to the physical ‘and performance requirements of this standard. The text, figures and reference to other standards. supplement each other and are considered part of the standard. MATERIAL EB safety straps shall be made of six plies of vulcanized neoprene impregnated with continuous filament nylon fabric. The two center plies shall be of a red color to show wear. Single tongue ‘adjustable buckle and snaps on each end shall be heat-treated drop-forged alloy steel. All OSHA regulations for power utlty lineman safety straps shall be met or exceeded (OSHA 1926.959). DIMENSIONS Dimensions of REB safety strap are defined as follows: With-196" (44mm) Length- 51-8" (1.7m) FINISH REB lineman pole safety straps shall be stamped with the manufacturer's name, date and length of strap on the snap keeper opposite the buckle end of strap as shown in Figure 1. INSPECTION ‘The manufacturer shall perform the necessary inspection and tests to determine if the safety straps comply with the performance requirements of this specification. GENERAL Lineman pole climbers (REB Item TL-105) shall be defined as a pair, both the left and right limber. The lineman climbers furnished to REB specifications shall conform in all respects to the physical and performance requirements of this standard, The text, figures and reference to other standards supplement each other and are considered part of this standard. MATERIAL EB lineman climbers shall consist of an adjustment sleeve and leg iron made of heat-treated drop-forged or pressed steel, held in place with two slotted hex head bolts with shake~proof lock ‘washers. The steel gaffs shall be replaceable and held in place with a center pin and two flat socket head cap screws. Replacement gaffs are REB Item T1-105.1. The cimber shall be equipped with a split ring to hold ankle strap. Ankle straps shall be neoprene-impregnated nyion. Angle "L’ pads shall be made of paddel leather. MATERIAL AND DIMENSIONS REB plier pocket, utlity bag, tool bag, glove bag and hand line parts bucket shall be made from the following materials and dimensions: Lineman plier pocket (REB Item TL-103) shall be made of hamess leather, with 3 pockets for Pliers, folding rule and screwdriver with a two-way knife snap. Overall size to be 63" (17 cm) wide x 9Y8" deep (24 cm), linemen utlity bag (REB Item TL-104) shall be made from number 8 heavy brown canvas with a 44" (6 mm) rope ring in top. Snaps shall be provided on belt loops for each atachment. Brace grommets shall be provided in bottom of bag for ventilation. Utity bag shall be 9° (22 cm) x 10" (25 cm) overall in size with a top opening of 8* (20 cm) x 3" (8 cm). Lineman tool carrying bag (REB Item TL-106) shall be made of one-piece number 8 white canvas covered on the bottom and 3° (76 mm) up to be protected with Naugahyde, cemented and lock Stitched. Bottom is to be protected with steel studs and mouth is to have steel frame. Handles shall be of harness leather and bag shall have two retaining straps with buckles, Overall size is 22" (56 cm) long x 15° (38 cm) deep x 6" (15 cm) wide, Lineman glove bag (REB Item TL-107.3) shall be hand woven belted duck canvas with expansion ‘usset 572° (140 mm) across top and 234" (70 mm) at bottom. SCOPE ‘This standard establishes the physical and performance requirements for hot line tools to be used by linemen on REB overtiead distribution lines, 2. GENERAL ‘Socket hot line tools furnished to REB specification shall conform in all respects to the physical and Performance requirements of this standard. MATERIAL REB hot line tools shall made from the following described material noted in Figure 1-3. Material for hot line tools shall meet all electrical and mechanical requirements set forth in ASTM F711-83. Hot line disconnect sticks shall be either 10! length (REB Item TL-404) or 20" length (REB Item TL- 403), as shown on Figure-1. Hot line clamp stick (REB Item TL-406) shall consist of a bronze grip-all clamp on one end and a universal fitting on the other end, as shown on Figure-2. Hot line sticks shall be made of Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP). Filled section of tubes shall contain homogeneous unicellular thermosetting foam filling with closed cells blown with non- combustible gas, Filing shall be bonded to interior tube wall and be free of voids, separations, holes and cracks. Universal disconnect (REB Item TL-412) shall be of either bronze or aluminum construction and ‘must be compatible with the universal fitting as supplied with the hot line clamp stick (REB Item ‘TL-406). Refer to Figure-2. Hot stick storage tube (REB Item TL-408) is to be utilized for the storage of the hot line clamp stick (REB Item TL-406) and the 10 hotline disconnect stick (REB Item TL-404). The tube shall be made of polyethylene and include vented aluminum end caps. Mounting hardware is to be supplied, were by the tube can be installed on substation fences or line trucks, Refer to Figure 3 for dimensions. 4. DIMENSION Dimensions and tolerances of REB hot lire tools shall be in accordance with ASTM F711-83 and as listed in Figures 1-3. INSPECTION ‘The manufacturer shall perform the necessary Inspection and tests to determine if the hat line tools comply with the specifications. Non-conforming hot line tools are unacceptable. MATERIAL AND LOAD REQUIREMENTS: ‘Synthetic rope (REB Items TL-609 and 610) shall be polypropylene, three-strand construction, and yellow in color. Nylon slings (REB Items TL-606, 607 and 608) shall be made from latex treated nylon webbing, endless type, and yellow in color. DIMENSIONS Dimension and load requirements of REB synthetic rope shall be in accordance with Figure 1, nylon slings with figure 2 and both shall meet all requirements of ANSI/ASMA B 30.9. INSPECTION ‘The manufacturer shall perform the necessary inspection and tests to determine if the Nyion slings and synthetic rope comply with the specification. ‘Non-conforming Nylon slings and synthetic rope are unacceptable. REB reserves the right to witness factory test and shall request test reports. PACKAGING EB synthetic rope shal be furnished in 600' (183m) lengths in cols or on appropriate reels. The gin shal have 2 36" (91cm) spring-type wheel chain binder and shall be spring-loaded with a hold open {tigger for each of mounting. Gin shall have 2 2000 Ib (907Kg) maximum rating including hand pull force. Gin with single hoist line shall have a fit load of 900Ibs (408 kg). 4. INSPECTION ‘The manufacturer shall perform the necessary inspection and tests to determine if the multi-duty Transformer gins comply with the specication.
