1. What is meant by community planning?

 Based on my understanding, community planning involves the proper

formulation of decisions supported by effective ideas, skills, knowledge
suited for the actions needed by the community. It also includes the
conceptualization of long range visions, goals, policies and strategies for
achieving social, economic and environmental sustainability.

2. What is a community action plan? What does an action plan include?

 One of the participatory mechanisms used to improve community

members' capacity to take action in response to the community's issues,
needs, and potential is the community action plan. It serves as a roadmap
for bringing about change in the community and ensuring that necessary
services are provided by stating what will be done, who will do it, and how
it will be done. The plan explains what the community wants to
accomplish, what actions are required over a certain length of time, and
what resources (money, people, and materials) are required to achieve
that goal.

3. What are the importance and benefits of community planning?

 Neighbors can work together to prepare for emergencies through
community planning. Staying safe necessitates being prepared. It's crucial
because during a disaster, you may not be able to receive life-saving
assistance in a timely manner. In the case of a tornado, for example, an
ambulance will not arrive until the site is safe and the roads are safe to
travel on.
 Planned action can ensure that safety and social goals are always in the
forefront of people's minds; that citizens have improved access to
decision-making systems and that their concerns are heard; and that all
members of the community are involved in the change process.
  Planning proves to be economical as it helps save time, effort and
financial resources.
 Planning provides direction.
 Planning ensures economy of time, effort and money.
 Planning reduces risks.
 The more effective people are in planning, the more economical they
become in terms of the three factors – time, effort and money.
