On the telephone… Bob: They’ll be playing with their

toys and watching TV.

Dad: Oh, that’s nice. It sounds like

you are all going to be very busy.

Bob: So dad, what will you and

mom be doing this evening?

Dad: Oh nothing much. I guess we

will be staying home.

Bob: You’ll be staying home?

Bob: Hello!
Dad: Hello Bob! This is dad.
Bob: Hi dad. How are you?
Dad: Pretty good!
Bob: How’s mom?
Dad: She’s fine. So what’s new with
you?
Bob: Nothing much. Everybody’s
okay here.
Dad: That’s good. I’m glad to hear
that. Will you be home this evening?
Bob: Yes I will! I’ll be reading.
Dad: Yes, I suppose so.
Bob: Well I have a great idea.
Dad: What’s that Bob?
Bob: Can you and mom come over
for dinner this evening? We can
have a nice dinner and then you can
play with the kids for a while.
Dad: That sounds nice Bob. Thank
you.
Bob: How’s six thirty?
Dad: Six thirty? I’m sure that will be
fine. We’ll see you then.

Dad: Oh, and how about Louis, will

she be home this evening?

Bob: Yes she will. She’ll be writing

some letters.

Dad: What will Danny be doing?

Bob: He’ll be studying for a big

math test.

Dad: And how about Julie and

Laura?

At Jenny’s house…
Oliver: So, where do you get the
best pizza in London?
Alphie: No doubt about it. It has to
be Pietro’s.
Jenny: No way! The pizzas in
Nabelanopoly just around the corner
are so much tastier and they’ve got
more variety and the friendliest
waiters.
Oliver: Yeah, I think she’s right
Alphie. Much better quality. It’s not
the cheapest though but they’re so
good.
Alphie: Alright then yeah.
Nabelanopoly is nearer then
Pietro’s. The cheese isn’t as good
though and for me, it’s all in the
cheese.
Jenny: You could have pasta.
Alphie: Pasta in Nabelanopoly?
They do the most disgusting pasta I
have tasted.
Jenny: Alright!
Jenny: Hi mom! How’s Rome?
Mom: Hello love! Yes, all is well
thanks. What are you doing?
Jenny: I’m with Oliver and Alphie.
We’re going to have a pizza. I will
put you on speaker phone.
Mom: That’s a coincidence. I’ve just
eaten the most amazing pizza ever.
It was the best I’ve ever had.
Jenny: Sounds
good.
Oliver: Was the
base good mom?
Mom: Oh yes.
The crispiest
base ever. Really
delicious.
Alphie: I wish you could send it over
here Mrs. G.
Mom: I’ll save you a slice Alphie.
So, where are you all going to eat?
Oliver: Nabelanopoly.
Mom: Oh yes. They’re not bad.
They use the worst cheese though.
For me, it’s all in the cheese.

But Tom has a tornado bike. His
bike has twenty four gears and ours
only have eighteen.
Jack: Yes but its frame is aluminum.
It’s very light and its tires are really
thick.
Rob: Tom says his brakes are
incredible. They’re French.
Jack: Our brakes are American.
They’re great.
Rob: You know, Tracy also has a
new bike. Her bike has pink tires.
Jack: Pink tires? Those are bikes
for parks not mountains.
Rob: But she looks very pretty on
her bike. She’s the girl on the
brochure for mountain bikes, you
know?
Jack: I think you like Tracy, don’t
you?
Rob: Yes, a lot. I like her style, her
face, her legs, her body and…
Jack: Hey, you like Tracy much
more than you like mountain bikes,
don’t you?
Rob: Yes, I think so. Because I
dream of her and not my mountain
bike.

issues they have been dealing with,

Karen: Where’s Claire?

Sally: No clue! I tried to reach her

Karen: Oh that’s sad. What about
on her cellphone but she just didn’t

Ally: Oh come on. We’ve been here

Alex: If I were you, I wouldn’t take
neither the black nor the red.
Niki: Why?
Alex: To be honest, they are both
just awful.
Niki: Oh my god! You are so much
help.
Alex: If you really want my opinion,
you should take either the green one
or the yellow one.
Niki: But I hate both green and
yellow.
Alex: Well then, I don’t know. I just
know that neither the black nor the
red are nice enough.

 Chapter 18 – Present Perfect
At the Hotel…
Karol: Hello.
Jennifer: Hi, how are you?
Karol: Fine, thank you. So, how do
you like it here? Do you often stay at
the hotel?
Jennifer: Oh yes! I’ve stayed here
several times. I travel a lot all over
the country and always stay here on
business trips. And you? How long
have you been here?
Karol: It’s been a while. I’ve been
staying here for two weeks already.
Jennifer: And how have you been
enjoying your stay?
Karol: It’s been very nice. The
rooms are very comfortable and the
staff have been friendly and helpful.
There’s not a single thing I could
complain about.
Jennifer: True. It’s a very cozy
place. So, where are you from?
Karol: Originally from Madrid, Spain
but I’ve been living in the US for the
past few months.
Jennifer: Oh really? That’s
interesting. Are you here on
business like me?
Karol: No, I’m here for pleasure
only. I took a few months holiday
and I’ve been doing some travelling.
Jennifer: Oh that’s fantastic. I
haven’t had a holiday in months.
What have you been up to?
Karol: Actually, I’ve been doing a lot
of sightseeing. The city is awesome.
Jennifer: True. I don’t have time for
it now but I’ve seen some great
places around here.
Karol: I’ve been taking a lot of
pictures. Some of them are
wonderful.
Jennifer: Oh, are you interested in
photography too? We should
exchange emails.
Karol: Okay. Why don’t we?
