General Instructions to Candidates
1. Spend at least15 minutes to read this question paper carefully at the beginning.
2. This paper contains Two (2) Sections.
3. Answer all questions.
4. To pass this aptitude test, a candidate should obtain a minimum mark of 60% of the allocated
marks for the each “Section” (1 and 2).
5. Questions should be answered in ENGLISH only. (Sinhala and Tamil translation will be given on
request but you are required to answer on the English version (original paper).
6. All questions to be answered on the question paper it-self.
7. Extra answer sheets will not be provided.
8. Extra A4 blank sheets for rough work will be issued on request.
9. Candidates must write their Index Number clearly and correctly on all answer sheets.
10. Section 2 with 20 - IQ type questions will be given 40 minutes before the closing time.
11. Stop when instructed and place the answered paper face down on your desk.

A grasshopper sitting on the edge of a ceiling fan blade in living room of a house captures images of
the space below. Its compound eyes are efficient to illustrate extensive images - not only from the
front but also from the backs and sides. Living room is rectangular in shape and tall. Its roof has a
large opening to get more natural light into the space. Doors and windows on the walls connect the
living room with its outside.

Depict a scenario, the grasshopper enjoys, on a sunny day. You may include people, pets, furniture and
equipment, or not. You can illustrate views from the living room or just within the living room.

Following figure shows a line diagram of a mature Mango [ Magnifera Indica] leaf. 5 marks

a). Complete the figure by adding fine details of a typical Mango leaf to highlight its three-
dimensional (3D) effect

b). Get inspired from the shape of the mango leaf and then illustrate an innovative and functional creation. The
size of the new creation could either be ten (10) times or fifty (50) times bigger than the actual size of a typical
mature mango leaf. Assume that the enlarged leaf is strong enough to use for its new purpose. Your
creation could be a life style product or an additional fitting for an interior of a building, garden or
public space. If necessary you can use other materials, such as timber, steel, fabric, threads etc with the
creation. Use the actual physical properties of the mango leaf in your creation i.e. softness, ability to
cut, bend, twist, fold, drill or any other. Use the page 5 (next page) to answer this part of the question.
