INTRODUCTION
Delhi University Entrance Test (DUET) is conducted every year for candidates who wish
to seek admission in various UG, PG, M. Phil and Ph. D. programmes. While DUET is
known especially for admission to post graduate programmes, it also acts as a gate-
way to get enrolled in some of the UG courses too. University of Delhi (DU) has given
the responsibility to National Testing Agency (NTA) to conduct the entrance test from
the year 2019. Since NTA has taken over the responsibility to execute the examination,
DUET will be conducted in online mode.

The admission process of DUET starts with the application form which gets released
in the month of March of every year. The entrance examination is conducted in the
month of June by NTA and the result is declared by the last week of June.

Passing the DUET examination gives candidates a chance to get enrolled in over
90 Colleges, comprising of 16 faculties, 87 departments, and 13 centres. DUET is a
computer based examination which assesses the candidate’s knowledge regarding
everything they have studied in the school level. The questions for DUET is created on
the basis of the syllabus of everything candidates studied in their undergraduate level.
The required academic qualifications have to be met by the applicants to be eligible for
the exam. However, the eligibility criteria differs as per the courses. The online coun-
selling process is held only for those who meet the determined cutoff ranks and have
registered. Seat allotment will be done according to the fulfilment of eligibility criteria,
ranks acquired by the candidates and the availability of the candidates.

HIGHLIGHTS OF DUET
●● Delhi University Entrance Test is conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA)
whereas the counselling process is conducted by DU affiliated colleges in their
respective campuses.

DUET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA


National Test Agency releases the DUET eligibility criteria. Candidates, who wish to
apply for admission in DUET , must make sure that they go through the eligibility crite-
ria. If any candidate is found to be ineligible to sit for DUET, their application form will
be rejected and no refund will be made by the university.

The DUET eligibility criteria include a set score or degree that the candidates are
expected to acquire or possess to be able to take the DUET online examination. The
candidates who will be found ineligible will not be allotted any admit card. The eligibil-
ity criteria particularizes a minimum standard of marks of the last qualifying exami-
nation that the candidates are supposed to have. The eligibility criteria of DUET is in
accordance with the rules set up by DU.

DUET EXAM PATTERN


National Test Agency (NTA) releases the DUET exam pattern. DUET is conducted
by NTA in the month of June, for various PG and some of the UG programmes too.
It is very important for candidates to go through the exam pattern in order to know
the basic structure, marking scheme of the questions. The candidates will get to
know the number and type of questions, the arrangement of questions, the medium
of examination, duration of examination and marking schemes. This way, when the
candidates are preparing for Delhi University Entrance Test, they will be able to pri-
oritise certain topics and subjects according to the marks that they carry.

In order to get through the admission, candidates will have to sit for the entrance
examination which will be conducted by NTA in online mode.

DUET - Instructions for the exam


●● Candidates will be able to see the questions that will be displayed on the screen
one at a time with four options out of which the candidates have to select one
correct answer.
●● To answer the question, candidates have to click on the button given against the
option that candidates think is correct.
●● To change the chosen answer, candidates have to click on the button of another
option
●● The option of “Clear response button” is for deselecting the chosen answer
●● The option of “Save and Next” is for saving the answer and moving onto the next
question.
●● To go to the next question, click on “Next” and to answer the question later click
on “Flag”
●● If candidates want to unmark the review question, they have to click on “Remove
Flag”
●● The time of the online examination is limited. The candidates will be given only two
hours to complete their examination. There will be a countdown timer at the top
right corner of the computer test screen which shows the available time to com-
plete the exam. As soon as the timer reaches zero, the test will end automatically.
●● The candidates have to click on ‘End exam’ option to complete their online exami-
nation.

DUET EXAM CENTRES


The exam centres of DUET mention a list of towns/centres which are set to be the
test centres where DUET will be conducted. As per the ordinance of DU and NTA,
last year, the online examination will be held in 18 cities of India. Those, who will be
registering for the admission, can choose the DUET exam centres according to their
preferences and convenience. It must be noted that once the exam centre of DUET
has been allotted, it will not be changed under any circumstances. Candidates are
also informed that the authority has all the rights to change DUET exam centre with-
out any prior notification.

DUET ADMIT CARD


National Test Agency releases the DUET admit card in the month of April in online
mode at nta.ac.in. The eligible candidates will be allotted the admit card of DUET.
The admit card can be downloaded by entering the username ID and password pro-
vided during the time of the registration for DU admission. To ingress it, candidates
must use their registered email id and password.
DUET admit card acts a hall pass/tickets for the candidates to enter the exam
centres where the online examination will be conducted. The admit card contains
information regarding the date of the entrance examination, exam centre and impor-
tant instructions which candidates need to follow on the day of the entrance test.
Without carrying the admit card/hall ticket, students will not be permitted to enter
the exam centre. Candidates are advised to keep the hard copy of admit card with
them until the Delhi University admission procedures are done.

DUET RESULT
National Testing Agency (NTA) is responsible for the declaration the DUET result
in the month of July. The DUET result is announced only for the candidates who
would sit for the test. It must be noted that the result of DU will be available in two
windows – individual login window or public result window. Candidates can opt
for either of the two options to check their DUET result. DUET or DUET will be con-
ducted for admission to post graduate programmes like MA Applied Psychology,
MA Sociology, M. Com, M. Sc. Chemistry, etc. The result will carry various details
including name, gender, category, All India Ranks, marks obtained, etc. Also, the
DUET result is not released at once for all the programmes. The authority releases it
at different times and days for different programmes.

DUET MERIT LIST


NTA will release the DUET merit list which is also called as admission lists in the
month of August. Candidates who appear in the entrance examination will get to see
the admission list in the form of pdf. The varsity prepares the DUET merit list on the
basis of the marks secured by the candidates in the entrance test. The merit list of
DUET mentions the overall scores of the candidates and shortlisting the names of
candidates for interview and counselling related to the admission procedure. Along
with the scores obtained, candidates have also got their category wise rank or posi-
tions in their respective courses of DUET. When the merit list is released, candidates
are advised to check their names, roll number, registration number, scores, and the
qualifying marks which make them eligible for group discussions or interview (if any),
counselling (if any) and further for admission.

DUET COUNSELLING
Candidates who manage to qualify the entrance test will have to report for the counsel-
ling procedure which takes place in the respective campuses of the colleges. While vis-
iting the campus for counselling, candidates must carry all the necessary documents.
These documents will, then, get verified by the admission authorities, after which the
candidates will be required to remit the semester/tuition fee. In case a student with-
draws / cancels his / her admission or wishes to appear for counselling at any other
university / institute, he / she can write to the concerned nodal office and can get his
/ her documents back.
