Topic Karen is the account manager of PricewaterhouseCoopers and


she wants to determine the average lateness of the auditing
jobs for existing clients if the a) First Come, First Served
(FCFS) b) Shortest Processing Time (SPT) c.) Earliest Due
Date (EDD) d.) Longest Processing Time (LPT) are used
respectively. Due to manpower and facility constraints, the firm
can only do one job at a time. There are six jobs already in the
system and arriving first is Unilever, second is Apple, third is
Oracle, fourth is Intel, fifth is Kraft, and the last is Ford. The time
needed to process Unilever is 21 days, Apple is 22 days,
Oracle is 18 days, Intel is 32 days, Kraft is 19 days, and Ford is
30 days. The due date for Unilever is 76 days, Apple Is 59
days, Oracle is 91 days, Intel is 68 days, Kraft is 40 days, and
Ford is 89 days. How should the job be sequenced? What are
the average completion time, jobs in the system, and job
lateness? What is the utilization rate?
