NOTE 2 The quality values can be considered as being relative to the results obtained with the track quality
measuring coach.
This corresponds to an angle of 1° (for example for s0 = 0,4 and L = 1,5 m, 1° corresponds to Tosc =
0,065 m).
For gauges based on other values of s0 and L, the Tosc value may be changed accordingly (see EN
15273-1).
NOTE 4 When selecting a value for TN, absolute values for vertical track displacement are taken into
consideration, and not the relative values as taken into consideration for vertical tolerances used during the
truing evaluation.
Downwards, track settlement must be taken into consideration. Upwards, it is recommended to take
into consideration raising of the track introduced by maintenance machinery.
NOTE 5 In a transverse direction, it is recommended to use k=1 for the points located under the roll centre.
Σ 2,i = max [(0,0768 + 0,733 ⋅ ( −0,05 ); 0,0492 ; (0,0951 − 0,733 ⋅ 0,05 )] − 0 = 0,0584 m
Regarding “-0,733∙0,05” in the calculation of blim and Σ2,i see the Note for subclause A.2.2.1.2.

exceeding a limit of 80 mm beyond the running surface. This rating can be reduced relative to the
vertical radius, as indicated in C.3.2.1.2.”
“Rail brakes in an active position may derogate from the previous rule. The height shall be reduced
relative to the vertical radius, as indicated in C.3.2.1.2. In a deactivated position, the rail brakes shall not
exceed the limit of 80 mm beyond the running surface. Nevertheless, the rules of subclause C.3.2.1.2 are
applicable, using the height of 80 mm instead of 115 mm or 125 mm”.”

Relationship between this European Standard and the essential
requirements of EU Directive 2008/57/EC
This European Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN/CENELEC/ETSI by the
European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to
Essential Requirements of Directive 2008/57/EC 1.
Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union under that Directive and has
been implemented as a national standard in at least one Member State, compliance with the clauses of
this standard indicated in Tables ZA.1 to ZA.3 confers, within the limits of the scope of this standard, a
presumption of compliance with the corresponding Essential Requirements of that Directive and
associated EFTA regulations.
Table ZA.1 — Correspondence between this European Standard, (EU) Regulation 1299/2014 of
the Commission dated 18 November 2014 concerning the interoperability technical
specifications relating to the “Infrastructure" sub-system of rail systems within the European
Union published in Official Journal L 356/1 of 12/12/2014 and Directive 2008/57/EC
1Directive 2008/57/EC passed on 17 June 2008 is a reworking of previous Directives 96/48/EC on the Interoperability of
the trans-European high-speed rail system and 2001/16/EC on the interoperability of the trans-European conventional rail
system, and their revision by European Parliament Council Directive 2004/50/EC dated 29 April 2004 amending
Directive 96/48/EC on the Interoperability of the trans-European high-speed rail system and Directive 2001/16/EC on the
Interoperability of the trans-European conventional rail system.
