Research in Education
Module 2
PRELIM Period
The title summarizes the main idea or ideas of your study. A good title contains the
fewest possible words that adequately describe the contents and/or purpose of your
research paper. The purpose of a research title in the study is to know what you are
studying all about. So that, your audience will know how to suggest and criticized your
study to be polish.
SAQ #2. Where do research ideas come from or what are the sources of research problem ?
Explain in at least 5-10 sentences. (5pts)
Ideas for research problems or topics can arise from a range of sources such as personal
or professional experience, a theory, the media, or other research studies.
Three sources of research ideas—everyday life, previous studies and theories, and
conversation—were discussed herein as the primary sources for research ideas. It is
important to note, however, that generating ideas from these sources is more important
than the sources themselves.
SAQ #3. What is the purpose of introduction in research? Explain in at least 5-10
sentences. (5pts)
The introduction serves multiple purposes. It presents the background to your study,
introduces your topic and aims, and gives an overview of the paper. A good introduction
will provide a solid foundation and encourage readers to continue on to the main parts of
your paper—the methods, results, and discussion.
SAQ # 4. Based from the enumerated possible problems, identify at least two researchable
problems and explain why you choose them. (3pts each)

3. What are the terns/ variables that need to be defined, clarified and described to your reader?
A variable in research simply refers to a person, place, thing, or phenomenon that you are
trying to measure in some way. The best way to understand the difference between a
dependent and independent variable is that the meaning of each is implied by what the
words tell us about the variable you are using. You can do this with a simple exercise
from the website, Graphic Tutorial. Take the sentence, "The [independent variable]
causes a change in [dependent variable] and it is not possible that [dependent variable]
could cause a change in [independent variable]."
The general objective of your study states what you expect to achieve in general terms.
Specific objectives break down the general objective into smaller, logically connected
parts that systematically address the various aspects of the problem.
